Austin contacted me within a day of the Angi posting, and stopped by to look at the job and give me a quote a day or two later. I liked his quote, much better than another tree service I had contacted. His crew came by several days later and did the work in a very careful and professional manner. They cleaned up, chipped the debris, and were gone. you wouldn’t know they had been there, except that the tree trimming had been completed. Great job!

Austin arrived one day after being contacted to provide a quote. He was the first to quote so contacted others for a comparison quote and they took more than 2 weeks to come, with one company not showing at all. Upstate's quote was very reasonable due to a "winter discount rate". Once hired Upstate removed the trees within a week and a half in the cold and snow. They cleaned up the yard very well. The workers were very courteous and readily complied when the neighbor asked them to move the chipper because it was blowing fumes into their house.

I hired them for removal of 8 tress, 2 of which were very large and adjacent/overhanging parts of my house. They brought in the right equipment, a very skilled crew for the work, and did a fantastic job. They dropped all the trees, chipped up everything that could be chipped, ground out all the stumps, and left the large wood at my request (for me to cut into firewood myself). They also had to take down and re-install a section of fence in order to get the boom truck into the back of my property. I didn't hire them for the finished landscaping (grading & lawn repair after stump grinding), so I'm not able to speak about that aspect of their work. I was very happy with the quality and cost for the large amount of work they did.

Buyer Beware. Upstate New York Tree Service (Penn Yann) and Upstate Contractors, Corp. (Fulton) sell partial tree removal services. If you think the quote includes leaving a clean, flat, undamaged lawn, it does not. Be wary of the claim the stump grindings will ?fill the hole?. Be prepared to deal with a huge pile of heavy debris and numerous holes in your lawn?and maybe even a damaged fence. Oh, and a belligerent owner who will angrily accuse you of ?trying to get something for nothing? if you were expecting otherwise. Austin is the worst contractor I have ever encountered?bar none. His verbal attack was so bad, I actually hung up on him because he could not hold a civil conversation. I ended up paying him more after the fact to get that huge pile removed. I had another tree contractor do some work a day after Austin?s crew ?finished.? It was night and day. Professional. Courteous. No mess. Upstate provides second rate service. If you still pick them because you think their quote is cheap, just know what you are getting and prepare accordingly, from dealing with damage and debris to dealing with his personal attacks on you. Caveat Emptor! BTW- Check out the reviews for Upstate Tree Removal out of Penn Yan. The estimate I received was on their letterhead. The check was made out to the owner (Lonnie) of that company. There are complaints at the Better Business Bureau about them. I don't think Upstate Contractors is anything but another name for them.

Got a quote about 6 months ago and they still honored the quote. Very professional and courteous. Work was completed in a timely manner. They cleaned up great after the job. If it was not for the tree being gone, you would not know they were ever there. Looking to have them do some other jobs.

Prompt response to call for service; project started the next day and finished in two days. Courteous, listened to needs, and helped out retired couple with a discount. It was a pleasure to do business with an honest and ethical company. We have a bitter taste from a bad experience last year with another Home Advisor referral. This company rates an A+++!

The trees removal mostly as promised but the repair to the neighbor lawn and drive was horrible. After repeated contacts, they threw some seed down where their equipment had made a road. They have promised to come back in spring but not sure I have much confidence in their word. I would recommend not giving them any or certainly all of the money until they do what they described. Seems like once they had their money it was more and more difficult to even have them respond to concerns. Also, recommend having things in writing so you and the company are clear about expectations. Would consider upping the rating if the concerns are adequately addressed in the spring and there is no further damage to the neighbor yard from rain and melting snow. I fear it will deepen the road tracks and cause further erosion.

The crew came in and made short work of the 5 trees that were to be removed. They also left the area clean, including removing debris from the roof. Good guys and good job.

Came earlier than expected, very hard working. Cleaned up after themselves satisfactorily. Did above and beyond what was expected. Great job!

A large old maple tree in our yard needed to be taken down before it fell down. The timing was a challenge - the ground was either covered with snow and ice or mud. We worried about the safety of the crew and deep ruts from the bucket truck tires. The crew was great! Careful, efficient and they cleaned up all the wood shavings and twigs when they were finished. They used large heavy sheets of plywood on the ground and it prevented any lawn damage from the truck. We were amazed and so we had them come back to prune 8 of our other maples. We are very pleased with their work. Highly recommend Upstate!

Work was performed as discussed. The Job was done on time and they did a great job cleaning up. I would recommend!

Very Happy I selected Upstate!! The tree removal is half of the deal. It was the care and the cleanup afterwords - just super. Guys were friendly and very careful - especially with trees next to the house. I had 4 60+ foot trees removed and it was worth every cent with Upstate. You can tell this crew has a lot of experience - specifically the gentlemen who runs the bucket and does the cutting. The owner is professional, friendly, customer service orientated. Austin was timely and all work done before I even came home from work!

They did a good job in removing six trees for me and a decent job of cleaning up. The thing I was unhappy about was the ruts they left in my lawn. They say I can call them if the ruts do not correct themselves after a couple of weeks plus some rain. We shall see!

Upstate did a expert job on my roof. They are very professional Their work was excellent. they were courteous and very hard working. They cleaned up after themselves. I was happy with the whole experience and recommend them to my friends!
