"The project was done to my satisfaction. I had a problem with the wiring which they fixed right away when I complained. However I was supposed to receive a $ 100. rebate from the Durasol Awnings., Inc. for the purchase of Durasol Sun Shelter S4500 Retractable Awning, it is now nearing six months, despite reminder I still have not received the rebate. That is WRONG."

"Mark called within two minutes of posting my problem. Explained about a small valve leak with John arriving about the scheduled time. Problem was checked out with reasonable quoted price that was accepted. John started the replacement valve yet the copper line had a hair line crack. A different line was used & another valve. The old valve was a 90 degree shut off where the new valve is a turn faucet because of the type of line. A total of three men did the replacement. They explained each segment of the replacement. No mess was made. All leaks were checked for. I would use Loomis Home Improvement again in the future & highly recommend their services. Jack L. East Syracuse, New York."

Awnings questions, answered by experts

The average cost to build a pergola ranges from $2,200 to $6,400, whereas the average cost of an awning ranges from $1,400 to $4,400, meaning that an awning tends to be less expensive to build or install than a pergola. Ultimately, the less expensive option depends on a few factors, including size, quality of materials used, and location.

Yes, you can convert a fabric awning to a metal one. You just need to swap the fabric for metal panels, which are more durable and weather-resistant. However, the support frame will probably need reinforcement to handle the added weight. You should consult a pro to address any structural concerns.

Stainless steel and copper are the most durable and will probably last the longest, especially when you compare them to fabric awnings. Steel is the most popular if your budget isn’t a top priority, but some people prefer copper awnings over steel because they are lighter, which makes them easier to install. Aluminum offers a more budget-friendly metal awning option that is still attractive and offers some durability, especially compared to fabric.

Regular cleaning, inspecting for wear, and retracting during storms extend its lifespan.

Costs range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on size, material, and design complexity.
