If I could give this company zero stars, I would. They were incompetent unresponsive, disingenuous, and did a poor job installing a gas boiler for me. I later found out that though they gave me a good boiler it was not an appropriate boiler for two zone heating house. The new boiler broke down two times in three months and I called them proximately six times and received no answer from the owner. I ended up paying an additional 1000 dollars and had a competent plumber correct the deficiencies. Even though Pro Active would not come to fix my boiler which he warranted… he also refused to reimburse me for the work needed to correct his work. Additionally, he promised to submit the rebate for my boiler with the gas company. It isn’t surprising, but after several months of no rebate I called and he told me the program had expired, and I was no longer eligible for a rebate. This was untrue, and I was finally able to navigate the issue with the gas company. I was still eligible for the rebate… no help from Pro Active. Do you sell favor and steer clear of this business. They are responsive until they get your money and then not even a return phone call when you have an emergency . I am seeing more and more negative reviews for this company

Terrible! Stay away from this company!! On May 2,2022, I had a scheduled a/c checkup, which was part of my yearly a/c and heating coverage agreement. They canceled the appointment because it was drizzling outside. Jessica, who contacted me to cancel the appointment told me that someone would get in touch with me within 2-3 days. So, someone should have called to reschedule by May 5. This never happened!! On May 8, I reached out on their company website without any response. On May 9, 2022, I called and got transferred to their answering service. Again, there was no call back! I did the same outreach the next day and Wednesday May 11,2022. I had also written an email to the owner , Mike on May 10,2022. There were a total of 5 outreach attempts without a response, only leaving my cell number for them to call back. Finally, I was fed up with their lack of responsiveness to my calls and e-mails. When I left my third message today with their answering service, I told the receptionist that if I didn’t get a call back today that I would be writing a negative review and I would be taking them to small claims court to get half of my contract money ( $543 ) returned to me. Only today did I finally get a call back from the owner Mike. He was nasty, when he should have been apologetic to me. He told me that he’s dropping me as a customer. He said he was going to come to my home , which I took as an implied threat to me and my family. He also lied to me and told me that he contacted me 5 times. This is a blatant lie as I just spent the last few hours checking my phone records for my mobile phone and landline. He only call Ed back after I threatened to take him to court for breach of contract, which seemed to be what he was doing by avoiding calling me back and providing the services that I paid for in my yearly contract. I strongly urge anyone considering doing business with this company to seek another alternative. He is a nasty owner and can not be trusted. It is virtually impossible to reach anyone by phone and they certainly don’t value their customers. I told him that I would give home 3 days from today to return half of my contract money. I don’t expect that he will do this. So, I will likely be seeing him court in the near future!!

We’ve had a relationship with Pro Active for a few years now and generally they are very polite and prompt. It irks us to have to write this review but us feel it morally necessary. They came to do our standard Gas Heating Inspection. Since they’ve done this before we allowed them access to the boiler room and let them go about their job. When they finished they informed us everything was in working order and were on their way out the door. We asked them if they can show us what they did down in the boiler room and if there is anything we should know. They assured us that it really wasn’t necessary, everything was fine (This was my error as we should have made it more of an expectation versus a suggestion). A few days later, my husband went to inspect the dryer ducts that vent through the boiler room, because the clothes weren’t drying … These ducts carry the dryer exhaust to be vented outside. They were completely disassembled and lying in pieces, all over the boiler room floor. Here’s the thing, we checked the boiler room before they came down, making sure our carbon monoxide detectors were functioning. Everything was properly in place and working fine. It appears they took it upon themselves to take apart these ducts, not asking or informing us at all. Now, unknown to us, our gas dryer was venting into the boiler room instead of outside, because the ducts were no longer connected. We were extremely confused, angry and frightened at the potential danger involved in this. In my haste to fix the situation, I forgot to take any photos (I know this may work against me but there’s nothing I can do now), we called our contractor (who came the next morning) and he put it all back together. Even he was perplexed as to why they would do this. This happened in the Fall of 2019 and I thought initially that I wouldn’t write this review. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I would simply speak to them in the Spring when it was time to do our Air Conditioning Maintenance. I spoke to a very polite, concerned girl who assured me that she would speak to Mike immediately and he would get back to us. Well, it’s been a week and we haven’t heard anything from them. Therefore, I feel it is time to share my experience as I really wouldn’t want anyone to have to deal with anything similar. This was extremely unprofessional both in their actions and their (lack of) response. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope it helps.

Proactive has been a lifesaver for my family. I have used them to service my central AC unit for the past two summers and also they just came and fixed my boiler that kept shutting down on a Saturday afternoon during a storm. Mike is extremely professional and personable. He put shoe covers on before entering my home, diagnosed the problem within minutes and was out of here in less than a half-hour. I highly recommend them!

I had an issue with the boiler not firing. The technician that came out, Danny, was prompt and professional. I appreciated that he wore shoe covers so as to not track outside dirt into the house. Danny did diagnose the problem and found that the boiler was not getting enough voltage to operate properly. He instructed me that an electrician needed to be called to fix the wiring. The issue(s) that arose that is prompting this average review is what transpired afterwards. In examining the boiler, we discovered that there 2 random wires that were disconnected. We did not know what wires they were, nor where they were supposed to go (I found out later that my contractor had disconnected the thermostat wires to see if the bypass would fix the problem). I asked Danny where those wires were supposed to connect to. He wasn't sure. I asked him if they might connect to the motor; this coming from someone who doesn't know a thing about boilers. He says he wasn't' sure, but proceeds to connect the wires to the motor anyway. When the electrician came by afterwards and fixed the wiring, the boiler turned on and a loud clicking noise emanated from the motor. It was due to the extra electricity flowing into the motor from the 2 wires that were connected. We quickly disconnected those wires and the boiler turned out to be fine. No harm, no foul I guess. But my concern is that a trained technician just carelessly connect wires to something without first trying to figure out what wires they were or where they were supposed to go. Secondly, when Danny wrapped up, I also asked him if he could take a look and give me a quote on installing a whole house water filter. I already have the filter, I just needed a price for installation. He said he'd speak to his boss, Mike, when he got back to the office and will have a quote for me the following day. The quote never came and when I called Mike a week later to talk to him about the wiring snafu, he just said he'll talk to Danny to get more info. I also inquired a second time about that plumbing estimate and Mike also said he'll send something over later that day. Still waiting for that estimate.

Excellent. Had another plumber at first tell me it was a bad sensor. The Proactive technician, however, quickly figured out it was some frayed wiring on a calculator motor. He fixed it quickly and had us up in running in no time.

Excellent job. The company kept me advised of the status of the service call and asked if they could come even earlier than they had scheduled. They kept me updated with an email that included an advance photo of Ted, the technician that arrived. He was extremely knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. He performed all the work that he detailed and was the cost he proposed at the start of the service. There were no hidden fees or extras at all. Clean, courteous, on-time and friendly. I would recommend to anyone.

"I'm Sorry you were dissatisfied with the cost of Freon. Unfortunately the prices have skyrocketed since the government banned any future manufacturing of R-22 due to its ozone depleting components. As I'm sure you know, we cannot go to Grainger or Wallmart to buy Freon and then come to your house and charge it into your system and warranty it for $20 per pound. Furthermore, the cost of Freon hasn't been that low in about 10 years."

When both of my air conditioner units stopped working, I called Arctic Air for an assessment. They came right away and told me the downstairs unit was leaking and could probably be repaired for the season, but the upstairs unit was dead. I had been having problems with both units for a couple of years and this assessment was in line with what other servicemen had told me in the past. The downstairs unit had frozen up and they had to come back (6 days later) after it thawed to put a sealant in the lines. It has been working fine since. I had to wait 2 weeks to get the upstairs unit replaced, but I called 2 other services who also had at least a 2 week waiting period due to high volume at this time of year. Installation of the new unit went well and it is working fine now. The crew was friendly, efficient and clean. I was not happy about the waiting periods both times, but this appears to have been unavoidable. Overall, I was very pleased with their work. I am planning on calling them back to replace my downstairs unit early next Spring.
