We believe the work John did was of a high quality but it was a very unpleasant experience working with this company. We wouldn't hire them to do any masonry or chimney work again.
"Well, I would like to say that I don't understand why it took from Sept. 17, 2012 until Jan 1, 2013 to decide that something wasn't right. I also don't understand why we were not contacted ourselves first to try and work this out instead of going public. In any event, we did go there on 8-23-12 to sweep the chimney. It was done and we were paid. As the member said, they had cracks in the chimney. Since they were burning wood, a cracked chimney indicates the possibility of a chimney fire having occurred - at least to a certified chimney sweep. Therefore John, who was not prepared at the time to take the time and use the camera to verify any damage, suggested we return when he could do so. They agreed and we did on 8-28-2012. We were paid for the work three days later. On 9-7-2012 the member signed the contract but did not send the down payment with it. We started the work on 9-11-12 at which time we requested the down payment and were given a check for it. Part of the work we did included a chase cover that would go over the entire top of the chimney. These are custom made. So, when we were able to get the exact measurements that were needed, it was ordered. It takes some time to make the cover and ship it to us, time over which we have no control. September is an extremely busy month for the chimney industry and it could be that the technicians stopped to do a chimney sweep before they got over to the member's to continue their work or they may have had to leave early to go do a different sweep or estimate. Or, it could of been inclement weather causing the work to be delayed. In talking with John he does remember requesting cash for the extra work, however nothing was said about not continuing the work if he didn't get it. A contract is a contract and extra work is extra work. Also, as far as letting employees know about contract amounts and payments made, that is just good business. I would like to address her feelings that I was short tempered. If that is how she feels, I apologize. It comes as a shock though when the majority of customers tell John how pleasant and helpful I am. It seems to me that there is a personality clash for whatever reason. I am glad that they are pleased with John's work."
