They were honest in their dealings money wise. Eventually we got what we wanted and the job looks real good. However, there were a lot of glitches. The biggest problem I had with them was that they would not get back to me when I reached out to them. I have the phone number for James and he would tell me he would get back with me. James on several occasions did not call me back. Eventually I got the phone number of his father, Frank. Frank was a bit more responsive. Communication needs attention. We went to a place that sells all the fixtures for a bathroom. We ordered a custom vanity. The day before they were supposed to install the vanity I received a call that the vanity was not there. No one realized that it was a custom vanity. The individual that worked at the store nor E & F General Contracting Co realized it was a custom vanity and had to be ordered. This was despite the fact that the word "custom" was on the paperwork in several placed. They did a good job when it came to tearing out the old and getting rid of the debris. They brought in sub-contractors for a lot of the work and they all did a great job. In the end they had an employee finish up the plumbing. When I was finally able to take my first shower after the re-model suddenly I heard my wife yelling. There was water pouring out of our kitchen cabinets. The leak turned out to be due to improper installation of the tub drain. In addition, E&F was unable to get ahold of their painting contractor and so they had their worker do the painting, which was not up to professional standards. My wife had to go around with a micro-brush along the tile to fill in where the paint had been missed. Overall the bathroom is very nice. But you have to be able to watch everything they do. And you have to insist on good communication.

My experience was excellent.  I had two different services.  I had work done at my home and I have a building in Long Island City so there was work done in two different places.  They were very nice, professional and they don't take any short cuts.

E & F Contracting has been my contractor for about 5 years we started using them in 2005 and had them do a three floor extension to our house. We have been using them for other things such as replacing all the staircases in the house, removing walls, kitchen remodeling, creating a foyer and such. We have had nothing but good contact with Jimmy and his father, Frank and his workers are all professional and clean everyday they work. The prices are mid range and they do not argue about prices or demand payment right away. What they say is what they do. They take a small deposit for the work and only ask for more when things get done. They have done work for us and did not ask or receive payments for work until they were done with the job because they wanted us to feel that they are doing a good job and that we are satisfied. I have nothing but good things to say about E & F contracting and there work ethics. I will use them again for sure when we do our basement and put up a new garage in the near future. I have recommended them to numerous friends and they have had nothing but good dealings with them and have recommended them to their friends.
