My Mom passed away last year and when my brother, sister and I were sorting out her possessions and furniture, I was in dire need of a dining room table and love the teak table my Mom had for about 25+ years. Over several months we cleaned out the house slowly, but the table remained until the very end as we used it to store items on it for the garage sale and several family meetings. We had a general cleaning crew come in to clean out the excess items from the house and although the cleaning crew was well aware that the table was mine - they took it anyway. Needless to say I was angry - however my brother did retrieve the table - but it had been taken apart and unfortunately very badly damaged by the cleaning company. There was a very pronounced and very deep gauge in the middle of the table plus nurmerous scratches all over the table top. To say I was upset was putting it mildly - I was devastated. Through a series of phone calls and googling several refinishing palces on the internet - AJ Interiors was highly recommeded to me - even better was the fact he's located approximately 6 blocks from me was a big plus. I called for an appointment and AJ was super accomodating - he examined my table and we sat down to discuss details of how long it would take for the job and of course - his price. I was shocked because it was expensive - BUT I was thinking - what do I know about refinishing and wood working? This was his price and AJ explained the reason why he takes so long is because he does EVERYTHING by hand personally! Since my Mom's estate was paying for the restoration, I decided to use AJ Interiors because of the numerous recommendations and close proximity to home plus I liked AJ! My table is sheer perfection! I cannot be more pleased - I'm beyond happy. You would not even be able to find a table like this in any store - that's how perfect it is! The table top is shining and the surface is like glass - the gouge in the middle of the table is barely noticable - AJ did tell me he would do his best to hide it and he did. I will be using AJ again because I want to re-do the chairs for my "new" dining room table and I have a Japanese cedar chest that needs some TLC as well - who better than AJ!
