What stood out? Just quality of work and responsiveness.

George was personable, professional and diligent in providing the service and his pricing was fair.

Started out well. Responded quickly to give estimate. Estimate was in mid-range but appeared good fit with my contractor and timing was excellent. Did 90%+ of work - and needed to return because of delayed fixture delivery, other minor pieces of job needed to be completed, and telephone - which had been working prior to renovation - was not working at all. Did have his guy return and with all but the telephone working, he asked for check. Naively I gave it to him as his guy was supposed to finish the telephone wiring that day. His guy left tools and said he'd have to return. He returned and got tools but didn't fix telephone. Multiple telephone calls, texts, emails - absolutely no response. Also did not respond to outreach by my contractor. This ending colored my entire experience - very disappointing. So if you use, please make sure to inspect work thoroughly and ensure all is absolutely complete before you pay.

I cannot give a more enthusiastic recommendation. I signed up with Angie's List in anticipation of this renovation, and found New City through another contractor. George was the promptest contractor to respond to my calls, and he was consistently on time for appointments (generally 5 to 10 minutes early) while everyone else showed up 30 minutes late after dealing with traffic. He respects the value of your time. His bid came in under two other highly recommended electricians, and he finished the job two days earlier than estimated. He was able to make suggestions to optimize the amps we have coming into our unit without having to pull more service from the building main. He laid out a very clear, very logical breaker box--no guessing which circuit is which or wondering why the dining room is wired with the bathroom. He worked with our suggestions and then improved our thoughts on switch locations, light locations, etc based on his experience. All of his suggestions were major improvements on our first inclinations. That said, he did not push any of his solutions, and was willing to do whatever we wanted in the space. He was available by phone, email and text messaging, and in general was just an extremely pleasant guy to work with. He has even checked in after the conclusion of the job to make sure everything has gone smoothly. Seriously, I'm sure there are a lot of capable electricians in the city, but I would find it difficult to believe there is someone better than George. He truly undertakes a job as if he was going to live in that home. I have told other people about our experience, and they have turned around and recommended him based on our story.
