The workmanship was very poor. Everything they touch had problems. They did electrical wiring in the kitchen and bathroom. The wiring in the electric panel was done incorrectly. New York City inspectors came to look at their work, would not approve the electrical work. It took a month or more for New York City inspectors to come back and approved their work. The contractor installed outlets and ran the electric wire in the wall, many of the in the tiles in the kitchen were broken on new back splash. The contractor refused to pay for the damage; I had to pay to replace the broken tiles. The shortcuts they took could have caused a fire; one of the inspector informed me that the wiring was a fire hazard. The kitchen sink was installed, his workers started to use the kitchen to cook their food and to clean their tools. There were scratches all over the stainless steel sink that are still there. I asked them to be careful with the kitchen appliances, to cover up the stove, etc. and be careful with the new sink. When I would come to the apartment I would always see that they ignore my request. Near the end of the job I wanted cork flooring in the kitchen one of the workers put the floors down. I paid for the flooring, they did not install it properly, it started coming up a few weeks later. It started popping I had to buy more cork and hire someone to ripe up the and install it correctly at my cost. In the bathroom, they installed a large medicine cabinet, it was all glass. It was installed by the contractor, four days later the glass on one side of the cabinet fell down. Large shards of glass were on the floor. I happened to be in the bathroom at the time it was scary I didn?t know what to do. I contacted the contractor about the situation he never apologized. I couldn?t believe his attitude not his fault his negligence could have hurt me. He didn?t care, they came back and just taped the cabinet back up. They installed the shower at a pitch so that the shower would drain correctly. I was told in order to fix this problem I would have to completely redo the floor. The bathroom door was missing a lot of screws it was not mounted properly the worker. I hired someone to come back and install the screws. They put assorted shelving in the kitchen and the bathroom that did not match. Anything materials they found they threw up. The bedroom I needed more closet space. I asked them to build a large closet. The closet was built with the cheapest wood possible. They doors don?t close properly which create gaps.. I have to get another company to come in and take down what they put up and install a proper closet. The paint in the apartment looks terrible. They did not wait for the dust to settle from all the other work they have did. I asked them to wait for the dust to settle before they painted but they didn?t wait. You can see the dust under the paint and it feels like sand paper. I had to hire someone to clean the paint drippings from where they let the paint drip like on the fireplace and the mantel. What they did well sanded the floors. Someone lowered the ceiling in the living room I assume they were sub contracted this two projects as they turned out well. I had to repaint the kitchen, fix the doors, fix the cabinets in the kitchen. They rushed through the job so they could get to the next one. I was so happy to see them go, just to get them out of my home. It was a nightmare.
Description of Work: I signed a contract with Keystone in November 2012; the following month they asked me to sign another contract with Maru Construction. The original contractor worked for Keystone Growth Corp, also worked with Maru Construction. I thought the person who recommended them was the contractor who was going to do the work in my apartment. He disappeared never to return. It was like a bait and switch. The first contractor came highly recommended, did a beautiful job at a private school reception area.. He showed me his work.. I was very confident this was going to be a good experience base on his work at the school.
