I can’t say enough about Carr Pools. Mike the owner is a genuinely nice guy and very knowledgeable about pool's. I HIGHLY recommend him for any of your pool needs. There is no way you will be disappointed. He is an owner who is hands on and runs the business and truly cares that you and your family is taken care of.

All in all I felt the service when provided was solid and moderately priced, but that they have an unusual way of handling customer service issues. After twenty years of service opening and closing my pool I got a "Dear Someone who actually doesn't live here" form letter indicating they were cutting back their service area -- even though I am in the same county and have them over only 3 times a season for pool opening and closing. I suspected it was actually because of a rather minor issue I had last year related to their pool opening schedule or maybe some mix-up because the letter wasn't actually addressed to me -- but I'll never know because they completely ghosted me and wouldn't return calls to discuss it. They did this to a neighbor and even longer term customer a few years back so it didn't seem coincidental. They also offered an out of county middling rated pool service in their "Dear...." form letter that they indicated "seemed good" based on their interactions, but I chose a highly rated family pool service company on the South Shore of Nassau County instead.

Mom has had an in-ground pool for about 12 years. She hired a professional pool guy who had an impressive amount of knowledge regarding anything and everything that had to do with pools. Mom had never owned or operated a pool before and relied heavily on this gentleman's expertise. However, as the years went on, his increasingly erratic behavior, high-rate of staff turnover and downright nasty attitude became indications that things were not going in a direction which satisfied Mom. He only showed up for openings, closings and repair and he often sent inexperienced pool boys, including his own son, to do weekly cleanings and who at one time turned Mom's pool into a bubble bath that wasn't swimmable for a whole week. His response was that "mom shouldn't buy the concentrated shock." The only good news was that he was quick to respond in emergency situations and was always able to fix whatever the problem was. The really bad news is he would frequently scare her into making costly improvements on the pool and filter which, she sadly found out later, were not only unnecessary, but were likely poor choices. Unfortunately, according to Mom, as his list of ex-wives increased, his costly advice became more frequent and she realized he was taking advantage of her and betrayed her trust. She searched long and hard and in her words, what she found in the pool-service industry seemed very much the same and she felt stuck with, as she says "the evil I knew as opposed to the evil I didn't know." However, she remained always on the "look-out" for a new pool service company and lo and behold, a friend referred her to Carr Pools. Mom asked me to look up Carr Pools on Angies list, of course, and we were both impressed and relieved by the reviews. She hired Mike and reports that he's been a breath of fresh air, especially as compared to what she had in the past. He's reliable, honest about repairs and takes care of the "little repairs" without extra charge, a service quite uncommon in the pool business! His lovely wife, Laurie, runs the administrative and scheduling side of the business and they make a great team. They seem to appreciate their clients as much, if not more than their clients appreciate them. Their work ethic and quality of service, according to Mom, is truly gold-standard. She recommends them highly.

I've been using them for about 10 years. They come out and clean and vacuum the pool each week.

The work is always done right, neatly, and at a very reasonable price. Recently, when I lamented that I could not find a reasonable contractor to re-marbledust the (gunnite) pool, Mike Carr, the owner, offered to be a kind of unofficial general contractor on the job. He found a mason and set me up with them, then he arranged the entire marble dusting operation and follow-up. His charges to me were better than anyone else I had spoken with, and it was from I guy I trusted, so having him do it was a no brainer. Mike is reliable, skilled, and you will not believe how inexpensive all his services are compared to the bigger pool companies. He does all the work himself or with his cousins, so it feels like his family is part of our family. We have used him for 8 years, and plan to keep him around as long as we are in our house.
