Our deck had not been stained in over six years, and was very beat up and had mold in some spots. John and his crew came out one morning for the power wash and got every bit of old stain off down to nice clean wood. They were scheduled to come back later in the week, but due to rain came the next morning to do the stain. Extremely neat. very professional. Total cost was around $1,300 inclusive of $400 in supplies and taxes,
I would definitely have them back for additional work , thank you!
This will be the second time we had Jon do are deck. Everything I said before still holds true. The deck looks fantastic. Jon will definitely be called the next time the deck is due.
Our deck surface was in poor shape and we needed to get it in shape to put our house on the market as soon as possible in the spring.
We have had Jon Cranch (owner of Penfair Painting) do interior painting for us before (including removing wallpaper in 2/3 of our first floor) and were really happy with his work.
Jon started on the deck just as soon as weather permitted. The only issue was that we were having our house re-stained early too. Jon coordinated with our house painter ((Brian McManus) so that they were able to work well together.
John initially aggressively power washed the deck and let it dry a couple of days. He then aggressively sanded the deck, taking many areas down to bare wood. He used a high quality stain (Benjamin Moore Woodscapes deck stain) on the deck. He also spray painted the vertical spindles of the deck railing.
As I had found in the past, Jon is a great guy to work with. He gave me some good advice on some painting projects that I was going to do myself.
Jon and his assistant, Steve, arrived promptly at 8am on the appointed day. They organized their activity to minimize the disruption to our daily life (when you are removing wallpaper in the kitchen, considerable disruption is inevitable). Both Jon and Steve were a delight to have around. And they did a d*** good job as well! While they were at it, we decided to have them paint the ceiling in our living room and, at the last minute, had them paint the walls there as well.
In the end, Jon's actual costs for the removal landed right in the middle of the range that he gave me.
I have him coming back first thing in the spring to refurbish our deck.
