Deck and Porch Service
The deck seemed ok when it was finished but it failed inspection on several counts with the Town of Gates. We called, texted and emailed Mr Batholomew numerous times and he never responded back, even though our phone indicated that he read our text. On the day he finished the job we paid him in cash. We could not afford to hire another contractor so we had to take the deck apart, and repair and rebuild it to code, all on our own. He failed to install flashing and a door alarm (the alarm was written in the contract), and he spaced out the joists 20 inches apart instead of 16 inches (16 is code). The hand rails were 36 inches high instead of 48 inches (48 is code). Use extreme caution if you decide to hire him. His phone number is 585-216-5149.
