Mark and his crew were very nice men. While they were working we liked them. However they made a few mistakes from the get go that we passed off as our fault. After the job was done on the inside they never came back to finish. Are fault for paying... we did trust them. Pretty much everything they did in the remodel we had to hire for others to redo. Like I said likable crew but one I would not rehire or recommend. Wish we went by reviews, if we had we would have went with someone else

He did the work on our tight business schedule so as to minimize customer and parking disruption. He is a bit aggressive and wants to have one commit right away and will phone several times until.....he has been scrutinizing our property and has tried to get more work but another firm which has done a substantial amount of work for us over the years was much less costly and more professional will be doing the job. They were not available last time.

Mark Kelly was listed as an area handyman/contractor on ServiceMagic, a provider website. There were only two reviews at the time, brief but favorable, so after checking the BBB and getting an estimate, I hired him. The front steps he built are already showing some long, deep cracks in the planks, and the vinyl lattice on the sides does not go all the way to the ground, so the underlying concrete structure shows several inches above ground. There are ominous noises and bounces in the boards when you walk on them. I believe the winter weather has already taken a toll on them. The trees were trimmed minimally by the worker. I later noticed he neglected to do one tree. In the kitchen, everything went swimmingly, we had a very cordial relationship, and I was pleased with the progress. With most work completed except for the floor-to-cupboard kickplate, door trim, and the breakfast island, Mr. Kelly asked me for the balance of what I had contracted to pay for the job. It was almost Christmas, work had been slow for him, and I happily complied. From that point on, I would deeply regret doing so. While I was at work, instead of the promised solid wood, matching hickory planks for the kickplate, I received faux wood-grain, paper-covered particle board all across the kitchen work area. The cut edges of the flooring were actually showing in some places! When I complained, Mr. Kelly added some cheap pieces of pine trim along the bottom. It was left up to me to try to camouflage the black screw holes as pine knots, using wood putty and touch-up markers, and to stain and seal the whole cheap-looking mess. We had a countertop on back-order, but even after it came in, it took him several weeks and pleas to finally show up and install the breakfast island. The original one had been backed with solid wood on the side that faces into my living room. The contractor replaced this with a flimsy, shiny white pressboard piece, trimmed with the same narrow, unfinished pine strips. Again, this was installed while I wasn't home. I immediately let him know that it was unsatisfactory, and he vaguely said he thought he might be able to come back to correct it in "a couple weeks." I was also left with my backyard looking like a junkyard; Mr. Kelly would not even haul away the remaining junked cupboards and breakfast island, so I had to pay for disposal. In addition, I paid Mr. Kelly $300 for firewood, which he delivered and stacked. I was happy, until I found it only lasted three weeks. I have since been paying another provider $180 for enough wood to last for a full month. All attempts to remedy this unsatisfactory work through the Service Magic website, which lists Mr. Kelly as a local provider, have been unsuccessful. I received only an angry voice mail from him telling me what an ingrate I am.
