He struck me like a honest, fair and decent person to do business with.
He made two trips- the first to assess the job and provide a quote and the second on the work day to make sure everything was teed up correctly for his team to execute.
They were fast and neat and professional.
While it has yet to be confirmed the roof repair has addressed the small leak we had I am confident that it has or that White Plains Roofing would keep coming back until it was right.
The job could not have gone better. Will always use them for our other roofing and siding needs.
They were really excellent. They did the job in the time that it was supposed to be done. It was done well. There was one slight problem which came up and they came back immediately and had it all straightened out. You have to wait because they have a lot of business, a lot of people want to deal with them. Now everybody on my block want to deal with them. It is worth the wait and money well spent. They came back to make sure everything was perfect. The price was a little high. If I had another roofing problem they are the only ones I would use.
Scheduling has been spot on. From delivery to work performed, he and his crew were punctual with absolutely no surprises.
Tear down was fast and extremely neat. At the end of each work day, the crew cleans up everything and puts left over materials away under cover. Jim's crew are true professionals. No wasting time, no yelling or inappropriate behavior. They are courteous and respectful. Jim's metal workers do an incredible job and are true craftsmen. Jim shows up many times to check in with both the crew and the client, never leaving any uncertainty about what happens next and the scheduling of the job.
Craftsmanship is excellent for the base layers, shingles and especially the metal work. Although the work is not entirely completed, I anticipate the finished product to be beyond my expectations. I would recommend Jim and his crew to anyone who would like a beautiful, professional and cost effective roof on their house. A lot of contractors could stand to learn from Jim how to run their business and manage their client's expectations.
I did not put the cost of the job on the review as I believe these matters are subject to individual circumstances, however the job was bid to three contractors and Jim's price was well within range and expectations. Although the positive experience returns incredible value that I am not sure we would have had with the other contractors.
Cleanup each day was exceptional. Workers were well mannered and well supervised. Prompt response after work was completed to a minor repair needed.. Contact with owners was cordial and supportive. I would recommend them highly and use them again
should need arise..
The team of workers were courteous and they keep us informed as the job progressed. Clean up at the end of each day was through.
This was a large job that involved old roof removal and proper installation of the new flat roof that involved removal of some stucco, roof repair and then replacement of the stucco. My wife and I were impressed that the crew chief was focused on delivering a finished work product that was complete and will solve our leak problems.
As with any roof, time will tell but based on the work that I was able to track on a day to day basis, we have great confidence that the leaks are gone.
I would recommend this company for roof repair, especially if you are looking to get the job done right, not just quick and cheap. I would use them again and recommend them to my friends and neighbors. The job came in on budget as was expected. All expectations were met by the workers.
Addendum:
Jim Clark finally called me on the second day this review was posted on Angie's List. I guess he can be responsive if he wants to be. He sent his brother to take a look at the siding and Jim told me that the damage was not due to his work. I have accepted his reasoning on this matter. For a whole year I have been waiting for his call to discuss this matter. Alll I ever wanted was for him to take a look at the damage and to see (If it was not his fault) how I could resolve this situation. Angie's List is a powerful tool for me. For a whole year I didn't hear from him, then when his review appears on Angie's List, he promptly calls me. Angie's List was my only recourse and it proved to be very powerful.
Finally, I will keep my rating of White Plains Roofing at a B for the actual work, but an F rating for professionalism and responsiveness due to their lack of effort in their folllow-up.
Please think twice before using this company as they do not care or have time for issues that come up after they finish their work.
"It is unfortunate that Member feels this way. The work we were contracted to do was done to his total satisfaction upon completion. We can not be held responsible for a piece of aluminum that had been on the house for 30 years which blew off in a wind storm. If a complaint had been made regarding our workmanship we would have promptly responded. We value customers like Member and regret his dissatisfaction."
