Dan repaired the broken wheel on our vacuum cleaner and performed various maintenance tasks. He set the price but then called us a few days later about a crack in the outer shell that we had overlooked. He offered to replace this piece without raising the quoted price. He said that the vacuum cleaner would be ready in a week was ready in 4 days. What a professional! Dan is knowledgeable, efficient and a pleasure to work with.

We now have a vacuum with all new insides and it works really well. There was a small delay because a part was on back order so we were given free bags for our trouble. I really like supporting a small business and they have kept our decades old Electroluxes working like champions.

This is a small repair shop on Main Street in Elmsford (right next to Pete's Saloon, a great burger/steak joint with an inviting bar that I highly recommend you visit after dropping off your vacuum!).
Upon entering the store I was surprised to find a neat, clean and professional environment displaying new vacuums and consumables (vacuum bags, filters, etc.). I was greeted by the owner who was friendly, neat and actually wearing a work apron. He asked what the problem was and explained possible causes that he has seen in his experience with this particular vacuum. He offered two approaches and I opted for the comprehensive package that would fix the problem in addition to changing all filters and cleaning the entire unit.
I asked if it were possible to do it in one day since we were having a party on the weekend and he said he would try his best. Incredibly, he called me by noon the next day! Not only was it repaired, he also cleaned all the scuff marks that were on the exterior of the unit...it looked brand-new!
It was a pleasure experiencing "old-world" service from a human being who actually had functional knowledge of the repairs he was performing ON-SITE. When high-end vacuums cost upwards of $1,000.00, it is comforting to know that we had found an honest individual whom we can go to without hesitation should the unit ever fail again.

Dan had fixed a vacuum of mine many years ago. He is professional, courteous, and answers all of your questions. So when my Sears vacuum's powermate was not working I immediately called him. I gave him the machine late on a Friday and Monday morning, as promised, he told me the problem, and the cost. He said it was worth fixing. Also said it would take a little time since he had to order the part form Sears, that they are slow. As soon as the part came in, he called, and fixed it that day for immediate pickup.
Dan has been in business for years. He is very reliable and I highly recommend his service. He also gave me an Angies List discount.

Dan was excellent in diagnosing my problem, explaining my options and saved me $600 by not having to buy and install a new unit. The repaired unit now has the same power as a newer high-end model and my house has excellent suction again. I am so happy I found Dan rather than just went the route of buying a new unit.

Very nice guy, honest work, good turn around time. Only problem is doesn't do home calls so I had to take heavy and bulky central air motor to his shop. Other than that will recommend his service and use again.

It was a pleasant, positive experience. Dan clearly explained the process -- he called within a couple of hours of drop-off with a cost and time estimate, explained clearly and completely what needed to be done, including ways to minimize the cost. Then he completed the repairs within a day, which was earlier than estimated. Dan is very friendly in a professional way, and has extensive knowledge of vacuums and vacuuming.

I just moved into a home with a central vacuum system which was not working properly. After finding Dan at Suburban on Angie's list, he told me how to disconnect my vacuum and bring it to the shop thereby saving me $125.00 in a house call. Not only did he fix the vacuum in a day, but he honored the 10% coupon on all the work and added without charge some extensions I needed. i could not be happier or more grateful for the service. there is a reason they have been in business so long with such great reviews. Excellent, the vacuum runs like new and looks like new. After dropping off the vacuum I received a call later that day explaining the problem, the cost and approximate time needed to repair. The vacuum cleaner was ready for pick-up a week or so later (parts had to be ordered). The vacuum cleaner runs beautifully, and looks like new!! Very pleasant to deal with!!!

We took our pricey Miele to Dan after reading reviews on Angie's List.
What a PLEASANT EXPERIENCE! We had a terrible time with another vacuum
repair place, and we had almost gvne up that we would be able to find
someone that would know what was wrong and how to fix it, without
gouging us (which certainly happened with the other service people).
The issue that brought us to bring the vacuum in was that the vacuum was
shutting off after only several minutes of use. When we arrived at
Dan's small, old-world, very neat store he asked us to explain the
problem(s). He then took the unit from us, and plugged it in to check
the suction, which was lousy. Basically, the cleaner was totally
clogged up with debris that should not have been vacuumed up! (We had a
bathroom reno in early Fall, and I think it was used to pick up demo
stuff, like pieces of plaster, lathe, etc. I was at work, so didn't
know they weren't using a Shop Vac. We also have two big dogs, so we
have a fair amount of pet hair, etc.
Dan knew we had come to him by way of Angie's List, and immediately extended the 10% discount. He
gave us the estimate on the spot, including the necessary replacement of
the HEPA filter, which is $50 of the $160 total price (plus we
purchased bags as well, so the service price was VERY reasonable). He
offered a further discount if we prepaid, which we happily agreed to.
He asked us when we would like to pick it up and even offered to have it
for us later that the same day (Saturday)! That did not work with our
schedule, so he said he would call as soon as it was ready, and we could
pick up at our convenience. He called a few days later, and I went and
picked up today, Saturday.
Dan asked if I would like to see how it was working now, and so he showed me the improved suction. The
unit was all cleaned up, and looked great!
Suburban Vacuum is now our go-to place for our vacuums and any small appliance we need serviced. Dan is so friendly and competent. It' hard to find such wonderful service and kindness in this day-in-age and in our area. He was delightful.

We brought our Dyson vacuum in for a repair as the clutch had been broken; a common problem we came to find out. We met Dan who was incredibly knowledgable about vacuums and the Dyson in particular, despite not selling that brand. He educated us about the clutch and typical challenges associated with bagless vacuum. He is incredibly nice and extremely professional. Dan is the embodiment of everything good about small, local businesses. We would happily return and highly recommend Dan and Suburban Vacuum Company.

The vacuum hadn't been used in a long time. When I discovered the damage, I checked Angie's List and called Suburban Vacuum because of its high ratings and good reviews; Suburban also offered a 10% online coupon for Angie's List customers. Unlike other shops in the area that charge for an estimate, Dan at Suburban Vacuum promised a free estimate within one working day. I took the unit into the shop on a Saturday and, as promised, Dan called on Monday with two options: he could make the unit functional again for about $139, or he could completely clean and rebuild it with a rebuild kit for $189 (before the 10% discount). The cost to replace the vacuum with a similar model would have run over $700, so I opted for the rebuild. He gave my job priority as an Angie's List member, finished the job on Tuesday -- sooner than promised -- and charged a very fair price. In addition to the $169. cost of the repair, I bought a new floor brush and filter bags.
The vacuum works great now; it's cleaning like new. It's also nice to have the retractable cord working properly again. After I got the unit home, I noticed that one of the three swivel wheels wasn't working, causing the unit to drag instead of roll smoothly across the floor. Dan ordered a new part and replaced it and the other "tires" free of charge and while I waited, with his apologies for not having noticed the issue himself. All in all, it was a pleasure dealing with someone who takes pride in the quality of his work and works so diligently to satisfy his customers.
