B&H Garage Doors INC

About us

Company History B&H Garage Doors, Inc. - Company Profile During the 1990's, Roy Dor was working for a door and gate company in Westchester County New York. Feeling limited as an employee, and drawing inspiration from his father, he decided to incorporate on his own. In June of 2000 “B&H.” was born. Shortly after, Marc (one of Roy's two brothers) joined B&H as Vice President and head of sales. The third brother of the family, Mike, put his law degree to work as a legal consultant for B&H., helping to guide expansion and assist with other related issues. Then Roy's cousin, Yoni, joined the company in 2001 as office manager. These key individuals, along with a team of talented employees, set the foundation from which B&H would grow. With a limited advertising budget, B&H began working primarily in Westchester County, NY. The subsequent growth was inspiring - within two years B&H was flourishing in several tri-state area counties, eventually expanding the coverage area to over a 150-mile radius from the headquarters. B&H Garage Doors, Inc. specializes in both residential and commercial garage door sales, service, and installations. With the help of many skilled individuals, Roy developed the company into a striking success. The customer satisfaction record, which has always been the first priority, continues to broaden. Expectations for continued growth remain very high based on past and current performance, and the future appears unlimited. Today B&H Service the entire United States with few locations over seas as well. B&H partnered with few manufactures and have a well spread distribution centers throughout the country. The growth and success of the business, derived from the vision of the founder, stand as a testament to the high-standards of everyone who helped build the company. It is this human effort that has marked the dedication of the B&H, and it is that dedication that makes B&H stand out in its industry. The organization is headed by unrelenting individuals whose drive for excellence hasn't faltered from day one. Each member has a background emphasizing hard work and diligence in every effort made. These qualities have led to success with the B&H mark, and what were once only dreams for the future are presently becoming realities with every satisfied customer. Roy D. Dor Quality and Satisfaction are the cornerstones that I built this company on. The B&H team is comprised of a group of fine men and women who are committed to excellence. They came out 3 days after I called. I did not know anyone else but Sears and they were booked until 2 months out. The repair person did a temporary fix because he said that he did not have a torsion spring with him. I asked how much it would cost and was told that they could not give me a price at that time. The person returned a day later with the spring in the evening. He repaired the door and when I called to get the price, I was told that it would cost me $550. I asked for what and I was told that my torsion spring had to be custom made. This is not true. There was nothing different about my garage doors. To make matters worse, the owner had his repair person place his advertising stickers all in my garage; a garage that I had just paid $400 to have painted. When I saw the signs and asked him to remove them, it removed the paint. I called the owner and he said that he would have the person return and paint the garage. I let him take a picture of the paint description card that I had received from Home Depot where I purchased the paint. That was before Christmas. I have called a couple of times asking when he would be returning to paint and I am just told that he would be returning without any specific date. The owner sent me a bill, but I told the repair person that I would not pay until my wall had been painted. Don't use this company.

Replaced my torsion spring that failed after 8 year of operation. Replaced with a different style spring, told me it's better... The spring failed after 15 months. The representative insisted I need new springs again! I realized what I really need is a good lawyer and a new garage door service company!!!

One of the two torsion springs broke on my garage door. Door was disabled. I called B&H, they agred to come next day in the morning (Saturday) and they did. The company seems a little disorganized: I was waiting for them two days (after we agreed in principle that they will replace both torsion springs and that they have the parts in stock). The door was not working and I was naturally interested in fixing it rather sooner than later. I ended up waiting (literally two days as they kept on saying technician is "on his way"). When I finally called them again and firmly said that I will call another company, they came and the job was done quickly and correctly. As a home-owner, who is also an engineer, I appreciated that and that's is why my review is B, while it could have been C or D, if things went slightly different.
I would say the technicians (mine was Marvin) are probably good at what they do, it's how the service calls are processed and scheduled that is clearly a problem. Due to the lack of supervision above, I would only recommend this company for straight-forward repairs only. Something big or complex, look for a company with better customer service and satisfaction (there are a few here on Angie's).

I bought a house that already had a brand new garage door. However, the door had been hung on a door frame with a severely sagging header and frame issues. Someone had gone ahead and installed a door on a deficient frame. Despite this, I called the number on the sticker on the back of the door to have the door removed so my carpenter could fix the frame.
Then company had changed names (should have seen that as a warning) but the number got me to B&H. They were nice enough and they gave me a quote to remove the door and then reinstall it once the carpentry work was done. I hired them.
They removed the door and the motor. We fixed the header. B&H came back and reinstalled the door, but left the motor on the floor of the garage. I called to complain and they told me it would require an additional service call and fee. I asked to speak to a manager but then was disconnected. So I finally got smart and called another company.
My new garage repair company is very reputable and has had the same name for 20 years. The owner met me at my garage and very nicely showed me how poor the door installation is and how the one track is barely attached to the wall. The installation is also using the wrong type of spring for a door this size (16 feet) and parts are missing from the motor. All the money I gave to B&H is essentially wasted.
I do not recommend this company and strongly encourage you to seek quotes somewhere else.

The problem was they brought the wrong doors. We ordered custom colored doors with windows but what they installed had no windows. The installers didn't even know what they were supposed to install until we showed them the order invoice. They reduced the price on the spot and said they would return and fix the mistake haven't heard a word since.
Response from B&H Garage Doors INC
"K & B Home Remodelers has never done any work for this person, we have notified Angie's List that this is clearly a mistake and this person has us confused with another contractor. We regret they had a negative experience but they need to direct their review to the company they did business with."

SOS Garage Doors (AKA B&H Garage Doors, Inc.) installed three garage doors for me.  Soon after the installation, I noticed damage on one door that affected all four panels of the door.  Not only did SOS not bring the damages to my attention, but they tried to cover it up in a very low tech way (spray paint that didn't match).
The first time that I called the company, I could barely get my words out before the owner screamed, "we would not put up a door like that" and hung up.
Although, I wasn't my own general contractor while building my house, I was very involved; I spoke to a lot of vendors over the 18 mo. construction period.  This was the only vendor that I was unable to communicate with.
At this point, I got the manufacturer of the garage doors involved.  The manufacturer explained, based on the type of damage, why it could have been done during the manufacturing or shipping process.
At one point the salesman for SOS finally came out for a site visit.  After looking over the damage, without a word, the salesman for SOS shoved a can of spray paint in my face.  I looked at it, but wasn't about to take it.
We went to court.  We won.  Now we are trying to collect the money we won.
Today, 7/16/2012, the organization responsible for collecting the judgement money called me to say that he has had a lot of experience with this company, " they're very shady".  He went on to say that as he tried to serve SOS, an SOS representative told him that they were no longer SOS.  They are now doing business as B&H Garage Doors, Inc.
The saga continues.  We have spend well over a year now looking for a resolution...
I would not use this contractor.

We purchased the door from SOS and they installed it. In the two years we have had it, it has broken approximately 6 times. When we have called for after-hours service (as it never breaks during business hours) the after-hours technicians are rude and you always get the sense that you are getting ripped off.

The only problem I had was getting the contract delivered to me. I don't have a fax machine and there was a problem receiving it at work. SOS was getting confirmation that the fax was OK, maybe it was being faxed without the area code. We resolved the problem by sending the contract via e-mail.

SOS came out to look at the damaged door and give me an estimate within 24 hours. I signed the contract the next day. I was told it would take 2 weeks to get the sections in from the manufacturer. Instead, it took 4 weeks for the parts to finally come in. Then, after making an appointment with me to come out and repair the door, the rep called to say that the parts were "lost in the warehouse" and could not be located. Another week later, they finally came out and did the repairs.

Representative was on time and gave me a competitive estimate which I accepted the next day. The work was scheduled in a timely manner and the job was completed very fast and the area was left clean. I have used this company before and will do so again if the need arises.

One of the coils snapped on our overhead door. They came out quickly, right on time. I didn't get a lot of estimates, so I'm not sure how to compare pricing.

After researching about eight (8) garage door vendors we decided to use SOS. They had the best price and seemed upfront and knowledgeable. The only thing that was not optimal is that a salesman came by and not an installer. However, most vendors seem to work that way. They came when they said they would. They addressed an issue with the framing around our garage door that they could have charged more for without doing so. Doors look good. Installer was clean and communicative and had no problem with our children watching them work. Highly recommended.

IT WAS MUCH BETTER THAN ROOT CANAL WORK. IT WAS PLEASANT. WHEN AN INDIVIDUAL KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING, YOU FEEL VERY COMFORTABLE WITH THAT. WHEN THEY HAVE ALL THEIR TOOLS AND ARE NOT RUNNING BACK AND FORTH LIKE MAD HATTERS, THERE'S A SENSE OF PROFESSIONALISM.
