They were able to fix the problem effectively by finding the source of the problem and then determining another source for audio that my PC had by reviewing my control panel/settings. I did not need new hardware or software in this instance, keeping the cost of the repair very reasonable. Their costs when hardware or software have been required have been good in my past experiences. In the past, I have had other services performed by Apexx and purchased PC's from them with equally high satisfaction.
Description of Work: Checked and fixed problem when my PC stopped producing any audio/sound.

 + 0 moreIf you would like to check out a GREAT computer services shop, try this one. I have been dealing with these people for years. I brought in my old Dell computer, and they took care of the problems I had. They are extremely honest, and I never paid a hefty price. When my old computer got to a point where upgrading it would be expensive, I bought a customized computer from them. I got exactly what I needed, and it worked fine until I tried to add a new program, which caused a crash. I brought in my computer, thinking it died, but after a week at the shop, my computer was not only running fine, but upgrades [additional USB 2 and 3 ports] were added. I still have Windows XP, and when the time comes to change it, I will, but I am never pushed to buy the newer programs. Recommendations are made when I ask for them, though, and I am always steered into the right direction. My computer works great, even with all the extras I have on it (modem, router, Wacom tablet, web cam (for Skype), connection to iTunes.com for my iPad 2 and iPod Touch 5, Optimum Online, and a host of my favorite websites. They never overcharge, and their services are worth every penny!
Description of Work: Hello. Actually, I would like to highly recommend Apexx Computers & Services, Inc., 90 East Main Street, Elmsford, NY 10523. Contact: Mr. Yen Chen - Email: yen@apexxcsi.com My computer crashed when I tried to install a new program. Both my virus protection program and Windows (XP) had a problem with it - flashing, then crashing. I tried to go back online and was able to get to the main screen. However, I could not open anything. The virus protection program and other startup programs did not load. I could not use my mouse, and the "wait" signal kept running. I unplugged everything and brought it in to Apexx. Also, my microphone stopped working. Since it was just before Thanksgiving, I was afraid I would have to kiss it good-bye until mid-January. When I called Tuesday (11/20), he told me he transfered all my programs before he started working on it. Then he fixed the problem and reloaded my programs and data. Per my request, he upgraded my USB 1 ports to USB 2/3 and added an additional USB 3 Card (4 slots) in the back. He cleaned out the inside (it was very dusty). When I called Wednesday, he told me it was ready, and I picked it up that afternoon. He told me that in about two years from now, Windows will no longer support Windows XP, but for now it works fine, so I do not have to deal with that change. (I like Windows XP. It is solid.) He said that since I have a video cam (for Skype) that has a built in microphone (I did not know that), I do not need a new microphone. Wonderful! One less cord to plug in. The computer I bought from Apexx still runs well, and I paid a small amount to fix the problem I caused (bad program!).
