Steve Perri-Private Music Teacher

Although I had played classical piano for several years, I wanted to learn to improvise and add some popular music to my repertoire.  Steve helped me to do that.  My playing improved beyond my expectations.  His own knowledge of a variety of styles, including classical, contemporary, and jazz helped me to broaden my repertoire and increase my ability to improvise.  Steve's years of experience as a professional musician and his love of music inspired me to become a better musician myself.

I have been a student with Mr. Perri for over 10 years. He's is by far one of the most professional and knowledgeable music teachers I have had the pleasure of knowing. Despite the fact that early on I was a difficult student, he was able to reign me in and teach me well. He has been an inspiration and mentor and is one of the people who helped me make the decision to major in music. By far the best music teacher out there.

Every time we have a music lesson Steve is on time and always ready to go. In the 20 years I've taken lessons with him I don't think he's canceled a lesson except for 1 or 2 times. He's always patient, almost to a fault. There have been more than a couple of times that I wasn't prepared and he was really good about it. Other music teachers I had in the past wouldn't see me for a lesson unless I worked on the music assignment I had previously.
   Recently he and I were working on Beatles song and he noticed that there was mistake made in the bass playing of one of the songs we were working on. How's that for a sharp ear? There have been more than a couple of times I've been frustrated with an assignment and I've called him up and he has taken time to explain the phrasing or the timing of some musical piece over the phone.
   Good music teachers are hard to find. For many reasons they may not work out for you or your child. For me, it  has really worked out well. Besides myself, Steve also gave piano lessons to my daughter for several years when she was younger.
 
  Steve is one of those teachers that's part of a rare breed and I've been lucky enough to take lessons from him for many years.
