Those guys are complete cowboys. It was terrible. I have a brand new roof and I had a leak. They came to look at it. They quoted me one and a half thousand dollars to fix it. I went up on the roof myself and capped three pipes. For $30, that fixed the problem. They were trying to charge me. They were upcharging me. It felt like a complete scam.

Nice, professional guys but very over-priced. Also, work was rushed and sloppy. They also left a small mess (nails in the yard, excess caulk wiped on the lawn, broken plant branches tossed into other parts of the yard where they thought they wouldn't be seen). Had to ask them to come back to re-do work. I wouldn't use them again.

Bill (Charlie's son-in-law) was quick to respond, identified issues that we were previously unaware of, and was able to offer a competitive price for a package of services. In addition, he was able to complete the work with his team in record time. After the job was completed, Bill came back to the property to walk me through all the work, show me the before and after photos, and clearly explained all work completed. He was professional and a pleasure to deal with throughout. I would highly recommend Charlie's Roofing.

Needed a gutter to be replaced along with a vinyl fascia board. There was also a small slate roof that needed to be replaced. It was replaced with shingles that were the same color. Drain pipe was cleaned out. On the front of the house, it was power washed and then whatever loose mortar was replaced. Then a gloss silicone sealant was applied. The front stoop was cleaned and filled. And the concrete sidewalk was also power washed. The team did an outstanding and excellent job. I would most definitely recommend them.

Assessed roof of a rental property. There were leaks leading into the ceiling of top floor. Recommended sealing and flashing and painting. The roof was in mostly good condition, except by the skylights. I had them do the work immediately. They did the job, but I was not on site to supervise that day. Time will tell. I will come back with an update in about a year - fingers crossed that I can leave a stellar review.

It was a two year process The first year...repaired on short notice. A bit pricy but was willing to accept it due to no one wants a leak in the house from the roof. Overall decent job but the flashing portion failed the first time around. They came back in 2014 and we made it through the winter.. Then came along the winter of 2015 and their were issues with the work. But he came back and came back relatively quick...this time...he revamped the process.. Metal flashing...and we survived this winter 2015-2016. At the end day - workable and there to answer your calls/issues. Hey ... flat roof and roofs that require certain amount of flashing not easy task but they tackle it .. though band aid per se at first than the next level...but accountable. Regards

We are a small animal hospital located on Fresh Pond Road in Middle Village. On Wednesday 4/6, the high winds caused the flashing on the side/front of the building to come loose. We immediately went to Angie's List to find a roofer, and found Charlie's Roofing. Based on the excellent reviews posted, we called to see if they could take care of the issue. The call was taken immediately, and they promised to come first thing in the morning. Unfortunately, due to the weather, they could not come until this morning. They arrived promptly, and immediately assessed the damage. Luckily, it was just a matter of the flashing being reattached with screws, as opposed to the finishing nails a prior roofer had used. They also pointed out that we had the incorrect coating on our roof, which was now cracking and about to cause a leak issue. They offered to apply a proper silver seal coat and fix the flashing, for a lovely discounted price. We immediately agreed, and they did the job right away. They were neat, quiet (not an easy thing to do on a roof !) and very professional. They also were able to do a complete cleaning of our gutters, which is hard to do since we have no access to our roof/gutters. We highly recommend Charlie's roofing for any of your repairs! much less expenseive than i'd expected

The job was done as promised with no issues. Will need to check after the next heavy rain fall. Also, their clean-up was done quickly and properly. I trust their work and it's guaranteed against leak for 10 years.

The nephew completed the roofing and gutter repair work. Within 4 months, the gutter became unfastened from the house. I called Charles (because he answers the telephone number on my invoice and warranty that is supposedly his nephew's) to come an re-secure the gutter - as it was a hazard and could fall off. He did not even call me back after 1 week! I then left another message and Charles called me back, and told me that HIS "worker" would come out in 4 days - even though I told him it was a hazard. His worker did not even show up after the 4 days, and now the gutter has fallen off the house, and could have hit someone! We have now had to hire someone else to come and repair and re-secure the gutter. Stay away from this guy - as he plays games.

Responsiveness: Setting up the day for them to come over was easy. They responded back to my voice mail and we set the date. I received two separate phone calls about setting up the date from two different people. Punctuality: The appointment was set to be from 10 am to 11 am. They arrived 11:13am, which means I wasted an hour waiting for them. Professionalism: This company was extremely unprofessional in their manner of business. I felt like they were trying to pressure me on the spot to give them $5900 for them to put on a new rubber roof layer that very same day and no time to think about it. And that is with the people quoting the price had never actually seen the roof OR ME in person. This is by far the company's biggest failure, so I'll go over it in full detail: After they arrived late, a crew of three spanish speaking men got off the car and rummaged around my roof for about 5-10 minutes speaking spanish to each other. After that, they all retreated back to their parked van and called their office. A few minutes later I received a phone call with one of the men I had made the appointment with, saying that my roof couldn't be repaired and had to be replaced. After that he went over his sales pitch ($5900 for a new roof) and I said I had to think about it. He responded by saying "well the crew is already there and we are very busy. How about we do it today?" after which he proceeded to repeat his sales pitch. I asked if they were going to take out the old roof, but he responded by saying that they would have done is put on a new layer of rubber roofing on top of the old (leaking) roof and seal it. I said that because replacing the roof is so expensive I would have to talk it over with my wife and get back to him later. "Is your wife home now? Because the crew is here now and we could start the work right away," was his response. I told him that my wife is not home and we will have to revisit our finances to find out if we can afford a new roof at this time and we both said bye. I saw the crew had left their ladder up against my house and were still waiting outside. A few minutes later I receive another call from the other person who had called me about scheduling the quote date. "Hi, this is person XYZ from Charles Stewart Roofing, how are you?" He then immediately proceeded to go through his own version of the sales pitch with the passion that would put jehova's witnesses to shame. I proceeded to tell him that we had not had time to discuss whether we would be able to spend $5900 at this time on a new roof. "How about we make it $5500 and I'll throw in a new hatch?" was his response. This was soon followed by his sales pitch, repeated from beginning to end for the fourth time by their company today, just in case I had missed it the last three times. At the end he became quiet and awaited with baited breath. I finally told him: "I had already said that we have not have time to go over everything we need and they will not be doing any work on our house today, so what else do you expect me to say?" and he finally told me to have a nice day and let them know. Price: Completely overpriced, considering they would not be taking out the old roof before putting in the new one. One of the other contractors I met the same day quoted $6000 for a new roof, including taking out the old roof layers, taking out rotten wood, putting in new plywood and with a hatch. Yet another quoted $8500 for replacement roof, hatch and fixing the supports. Quality: Hard to say since no work was done, no roofing material brands were mentioned and no samples were given. Overall: I felt like I had been ambushed by a company of overtly enthusiastic door-to-door vacuum salesmen. The way I had been treated was very unprofessional and very shady. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
