Horrible. Permit about to expire and stove still not functioning and did not pass town code inspection.

Installation was supposed to occur on January 16th as per a written agreement dated December 21st. Installation actually began on January 30th but was never completed. The contractor ended up installing a used mantle & fireplace enclosure since the one he ordered in December didn't arrive until February.
The new mantle/enclosure was supposed to be installed on February 15th but the contractor never showed for the appointment that he made just two days before.
We haven't been able to speak to him since. He was paid $2,800 of the $3,200 bill. His brother answers the office phone and asks us to call the installer's cell, but no one has answered that cell since the check was cashed. Although the installer doesn't even show up for the appointments that he makes, that check was cashed the same day that we handed it to him.

Update: the contractor finally called back after I left a message that he had 1 week to finish the work. He agreed to be here at a specific time but didn't show once again. He was cancelled.

Dave is very knowledgeable and is a fully insured, NFI Certified Member HPBA CSIA, which inspired confidence. He pays attention to detail and takes pride in his work. I will hire him back to inspect/sweep annually. I highly recommend his services if you are looking to install a woodstove, insert, gas burning appliance, etc. - he will not deviate from the relevant codes.
