The communication from his company re scheduling and the "do's and don'ts" after the job is done was very explicit.
It was a two day job this year. One day to excavate and grade, the second to pave using "binder". Next year they will complete the job with a "topcoat".
After the binder was done, Kris, the paving boss, reiterated the "do's and don'ts"and gave me further advice re the new driveway.
If you want quality and very specific information of what you will get for your money I'd definitely recommend Ken's Paving.
My old driveway was chipped cracked and in bad shape. Got a few quotes, Kens's was a little bit more than another firm, but the details and description on proposal were more precise and sounded better.
First visit Fall 2013 arrived when expected and removed old driveway. Then layed down water barrier, crushed stone, and pavement. Had full crew and whole job took around 6 hours, as promised. Had one minor complaint about one of the guys, which I took up with them and they addressed it.
They came back next summer 2014 to finish by putting down top layer. That job only took a few hours the crew was efficient and professional.
Spring 2015 still looks great, like a brand new driveway.
On the day of the top-coat, he let me know about an issue with the height of a small section of brick landscaping, and allowed me to put in a quick temporary fix to allow the driveway to be paved at the necessary height so rainwater will drain correctly. It's a simple enough permanent fix, I'll be able to put it the way the landscapers should have done it with minor supplies from Lowe's. He could have made it work as it was without saying anything, but the foresite is greatly appreciated. Knowing what I know now, I would always recommend getting the driveway done first, and then landscaping if you're in need of both like we were.
