Everything went as planned. My stove came in when expected and the installation was done within a few hours.

Things went very well from start to finish. John was my first contact at the store, he went over all the product features and setup the onsite estimate. Peter came out to get the measurements and see what needed to be done to get the old fireplace out, and gave recommendations on what to install (stove, hearth, etc.) and had an estimate to me in a couple days. The guys that came out did a nice job both with the removal of the old fireplace and the install for the new pellet stove. They were flexible with the scheduling to get the work done, as I needed another contractor to come in and do the drywall finishing and painting (there was no drywall behind the old fireplace). I never thought I would say this, but I am actually looking forward to cooler temperatures so I can start using the stove!

Just to be clear, this a review of Hearth & Home, but in order to put my remarks in context it will be helpful to note the problems found when shopping six other local dealers. (Not all was true of every dealer)
1. Phone calls not promptly returned. ("Sorry - but we've been busy")
2. No help applying for the required building permit. (Permit? You're on your own")
3. No firm installation cost. ("Additional charges may apply")
3. Large non-refundable deposit with no firm installation date.
4. Skimpy contract (less than the NYS requirement)
6. Manufacturers rebates, discounts or coupons not honored unless pressed on the matter.
7. Unclear how service or warranty issues will be handled.
Fortunately I had none of the above problems with Hearth & Home. More to the point, they seemed sincerely interested in my business, made a prompt and thorough in-home visit, offered sensible suggestions as to the best product, and required only a modest down payment on a handshake. The price was locked in and the contract specified a installation date range. Their in-house installers perform the yearly maintenance as well as any warranty issues.
Shop around, but don't be blinded by the lowest price. You get what you pay for.

Went extremely well. Work completed in 5 hrs. Great clean-up, no mess! Installer went over operation with me at end of installation.Excellent job!

It was a bit of work to do in the winter since they had to work on the roof and run a new gas line plus insert the new unit. Everything works well, we now use the fireplace everyday; previously it was used twice in two years.
