I called Energy Savers last November 2012 and asked for a home energy evaluation appointment, preferably to be scheduled on a saturday.
On the day of the appointment, Bruce McClean arrived, introducing himself as the firm's president.
He arrived without the measurement tools needed to accomplish my energy survey, and by way of explanation he said he was on his way to a football game!
Without tools, he walked around my house and made many verbal recommendations without any tools to survey the premises!
Despite not having tools, he wanted to talk--about the football game, and I had to redirect him back to the matter at hand a few times.
Among his recommendations, he walked past windows and stated they needed more external caulking--without examining them first!
He also stated I should have all of the insulation removed from the ceiling in the basement, which I found to be unbelievable!
His office had to make another appointment for someone to bring the audit tools to actually survey the premises.
The man they sent acted like he was angry. He repeated Bruce's recommendation to hire them to remove the ceiling insulation in my basement!
He also suggested a recommendation to hire them to remove all of my (recently installed) vinyl siding to re-insulate, despite my assurance that the siding installer had doubled the rigid foam insulation under the vinyl, no kidding! I found this unbelievable!
Once the audit tests were done, he said the report would be mailed from Energy Savers in about a week.
No report arrived.
When I called Energy Savers a week later about the report, they said my auditor was out sick, and to call back if it did not arrive.
When I called a week later about the report, they said he was a bit behind due to sickness, and promised to send the report within a week.
No report arrived.
When I called two weeks later about the report, they said he was still behind on his reports, and promised to send the report within a week.
No report arrived.
I never got the household energy audit report from Energy Savers.

They called me a YEAR later-- to ask if I wanted to proceed with any recommendations contained in my report!  Again I stated that I had not received any report.
They said they would certainly look into the matter for me.
No report arrived.  Ever.

Management needs to recognize that, once the audit is completed, the audit report is the most important outcome for the homeowner.  I am *agog* that no report ever came.
I still haven't gotten my energy audit report from Energy Savers, as of 12/30/2014.  Incredible!

ASk for new windows in basement, not replacements. Installed replament over rotten wood frames. Ask to keep look of window moldings when wrapping house and siding. Not only did I lose the look of my house, windows just square wrapped. The siding installed was not even what we asked for. It was the correct color thou. After all was said and done it took almost 3 months start to finish, nost of the time my house was just wrapped in plastic. A credit of $1000 and an offer to get window and door headers at cost. This was all in the qoute but never done. By the time we can home from work the house was half sided and unable to go back. They made sure they got me for every $ of HUD loan we had. I have since found contracter that would have done the same work for less than 1/2. thought I was paying more to get what I wanted. Watch out for these guys they hire subs regardless what they say.

We got several estimates and found it a little difficult to sort through the differences in work to be completed and prices. We asked the representatives to come several times and I called with many questions. They were very responsive and patient. When we finally made a decision, the work was scheduled promptly. The work crew was incredibly professional, informative and polite. They were really nice guys.

Work was just done today so I do not have any experience on how well the insulation will hold up yet. Workers were courteous, efficient and very conscientious about neatness before, during and after the job. They brought in drop cloths, removed shoes when appropriate and used heavy duty vacuum to clean up all floors where they had been working or walking through. They asked me to inspect after they had finished each area and answered my questions. The work appears to have been done completely and thoroughly. The office called before the end of the day to ask if we were satisfied. Yes, we are.

I own a sprawling hundred-year old carriage house with all the usual quirks and shortcomings that come with old homes. It was basically uninsulated; my heating bills were astronomical and the house was very drafty. I invited several contractors to give me quotes with proposals. All were sloppy or unresponsive. Energy Savers, however, was the exception: extremely service-oriented and highly professional. Methodically, they went through the entire house, using advanced technology to ascertain problem areas and what needed to be done. Their workers were diligent and committed. The outcome exceeded my expectations. AND they did the paperwork to help me recoup part of the cost from a state government energy incentive program. Finally, they called weeks after the job was done to ask if I was satisfied.
