"Sorry but your statements are not correct.. Photo that you showed ... As mentioned to you before ...is a temporary grille until the correct one arrives... You were told this at the time it was installed.. many parts have been backordered because of covid 19. We are sorry for the delay on this grille, we want this job to be completed as soon as possible just as you do... Due to the pandemic some things are out of our control. Thank you"
"Sorry to hear that your system is not running. But our records show the last time we were at [Member Information Removed] Melville was July 17 2014"
In summary:
1- The quality of their work has gone down, as evident with the reviews I read on Angie’s List. 40% of the people who had work done by Dix Hill's this year would not rehire them. In addition to 8 complaints filed with the BBB in the last 3 years.
2- They over charge, $150 for a $40 thermostat with their name on. I am still waiting for a plain cover, which they promised me.
3- And they throw their customers and workers under the bus. Stating a Technician who has worked for Dix Hill's for over 10 years doesn’t know what he is talking about, and leaving me without any AC in July.
Dix Hills response will be that there is no record of the service calls, as they have stated in other reviews. But I can produce every invoice for every service call in 17 years. I even have the paper that states how much I should Tip his workers (optional of course), but clearly stated.
It was very hard to write this review, but they are no longer the company they used to be if they can treat a long standing customer like this. I would not recommend them ever again.
Update: Dix Hills called October 1st, almost 3 months after the incident to say they "got the pan and the new thermostat cover". I suspect the reason for the call was for Dix Hills to be able to say they responded to the complaint and the review. But they are not kidding anybody. If it takes 3 months for a company like Dix Hills to get parts, then they have bigger problems. This call was just their way of saying they did something. This call was just an insult.
Two Hours later John arrived and it Took him about 15 minutes to correct it the issue.
I'm one Happy Camper!
Now three years later, the braches are rotting, and I have had two rescheduled appointments to have it fixed. I specifically asked, since this was the third appointment, to have a morning appointment. I tried calling and calling and the line was busy for two hours before I got through. I'm scheduled for between 4:30 and 6:30 this afternoon. At seven-thirty the repair person called and asked if he could stop by early the next morning. I agreed to that. He may have come or not, but I did not see him. That day the office called to say they "would not bill me for the service call!" I told them this was not a service call but a correction of the initial installation. The office said the owner would have to call me.
It is now one week later, and I have not heard from the owner. My compressor is still not level and the other branch is rotting, I'm sure.
(My daughter also used them to install for her house, and she has experienced similar service problems with them.)
"Sorry to hear that you are unhappy, and from what I just read, I will say it is not normal practice to "stick branches under the condenser" sometimes we do put a small pitch on the outdoor unit to try to eliminate water and snow build up inside the bottom of the unit. I will look into this for you, and have the owner call you and resolve this issue... Thank you"
Last week I noticed a leak in my ceiling. I climbed into the attic thinking it was a roof leak; it wasn't! One of the ac drain lines had dropped off the unit and water was flowing onto the ceiling. Neither line had been glued in place, they were just pushed into the elbow and evidently fell out due to vibration??
I really wasn't sure when the install took place, but I figured since the drain pipes hadn't been properly installed they would come out and fix it. I called and spoke to a receptionist, she said they would come out on the following Monday and check it out. The service call would be $150.00, I didn't feel I should pay for something they failed to do and asked to speak to the boss. She said she would have him call as soon as he returned. That was a week or so ago. No one has called since.
"I would like to look into this review... it says the work was done in 2008.. but we have not been at this location since 2003... can you provide me with more information to back up your posted complaint.. thank you"
Bottom line Dix Hills AC is a great company that everyone should use. The 10-15 other companies tried selling me a furnace(mines 9 years old), tried saying i needed a 3.5 ton unit for a 1300 sq foot home, said it would cost 6k, etc etc.
"In response to you review... we are sorry to say that we cannot find any record in our system that you are a Dix Hills Air customer.... I would love to see the invoice for the work that you posted was done, your review says it was back in 2012? Can you supply us with a copy of the work invoice? Thank you"
He thought the job would take 2 days, but our house was built tougher and the plan we developed took a lot longer to implement; 5 days.
I strongly advise anyone getting central air air to do their research and look up the reviews on Angies list. I was given prices way out of my budget. Most of these ac units no longer have cooper tubing, with the exception of Lennox which was way out of my budget. Dix hills uses Luxaire products that still uses copper tubing. All of the other brands started using aluminium piping which is much cheaper product. Also Dix Hills Ac uses different vent system, which the will allow you to close them completely flush to the ceiling not losing any heat loss during the winter. Also the vents do not blow air directly to the floor if you stand underneath you would feel it. The vents are designed for the air flow to come out from the sides. Very unique concept.
I would highly recommend Dix Hill AC. The crew cleaned up after themselves not making a big mess. I'm looking forward using it this summer.
