The best thing about The Asphalt Doctor is that not only do they do excellent work, but if it's not to your satisfaction, they will make it right. It's so hard to find contractors who take pride in their work. Here they take pride in the outfit and you will have confidence in the leadership.

They did a great job. All the workers were very professional. The co-owner of the company was on site for the entire job. I understand that asphalt can't be put down during rain, and I was concerned that the driveway could be compromised because there was a chance of rain in the forecast, but they held off the paving portion until the following morning rather than risk it. Two months later the driveway still looks great. There aren't any spots where rain water puddles.

Two years ago we went with a different company to re-pave a driveway on side of our house. The work was shoddy and I regretted not going with the Asphalt Doctor who also provided us with an estimate (their estimate was a little higher). This year we needed the main driveway paved and went with the Asphalt Doctor. The work was done on time and very well done. Driveway looks great. Definitely worth it.

The price was high and I wasn’t thrilled with the job at the end. It hadn’t helped where they did the patch. They lacked some things and didn’t do a good job. I didn’t call them back.
Response from The Asphalt Doctor, Inc.

"Dear [member name removed], I’m very sorry that you weren’t happy with the service we provided. I wish you would have informed us of your disappointment so that we could have addressed your concerns. We stand behind our work and it is our goal to provide excellent service to all of our customers. Had you contacted us we would have taken the opportunity to try and remedy your dissatisfaction. In regard to your mention of a patch, I’m not sure what you are referring to as the only services we provided were sealcoating and crackfiller. I regret that this experience did not meet your expectations and I would very much like to hear from you regarding why you were not happy with my company. Respectfully, Kathleen A. Trong, Pres."

It went seemlessly. They did stage 1 on the first afternoon and were back at it at 6:30 am on the next morning to finish the job. Cleaned up everything, it was spotless, put up a sign and barrier tape across the entrance to the driveway. Best asphalt job I have ever seen. Left care and maintenance instructions booklet with us when he left. Great job!

Professional company and professional quality job.  They were quick and did what they stated in the proposal. We had our driveway  sealed two years ago for less money, but this was a much better job.  I will use their services again when it comes time to sealcoat our driveway again.

Jeff Trong, the owner of The Asphalt Doctor, was prompt in his response to my emailed query for a quote.  He provided me two quotes to choose from; both were thoroughly described on the written proposal.  I chose the less expensive of the two quotes -- one course of paving rather than two.  During excavation, the crew uncovered a partial concrete sidewalk, which we agreed needed to be removed.  That added to the overall cost, in part because of disposal issues.
Jeff worked with his crew on this job.  He took the time to answer my questions and show me what was going on.  They took care not to mess up a perennial garden that runs alongside the driveway -- I thought it might get a thorough trampling, but was very glad to see that didn't happen.
All were professional, courteous and diligent about the work, which seemed to go smoothly.  All in all, they were onsite about 1.5 days.
Based on my experience,  I would highly recommend The Asphalt Doctor and I will rely on them to maintain my driveway in the years to come.

We are new home owners and before buying the home  in November our inspector told us our driveway needs to be resealed in the spring.  It was 6 years old and had never been sealed by the previous owner.   We called Asphalt Doctor.  They came on time, took pictures and informed us that where there are alligator cracks not much can be done (this is true based upon what others have told us).   A few days later he gave us a written contract with a price of $1900.    The contract said nothing of sealing the cracks that could be sealed.  Their price was the highest of the three quotes I received.   I called them to ask how many feet of fillable cracks was included in the price, if any.  The woman who answered the phone said it included none since it was a waste to do them because the driveway was in too much disrepair.  (It is true there are two fairly large areas of alligator cracks and 3-4 areas where there are cracks between 1/4" & 1/2".  There are also very large sections where the driveway is in very good condition).   Then she said it was a total waste of money to seal coat the driveway.  It would be like putting paint over it.    I asked what she recommends and she repeated that it would be a waste of money to seal coat it.     When I asked again what is the recommendation she said she would tear up the entire driveway and put in a new driveway. When I asked why didn't the gentleman say that when he was here because I could have easily just signed the contract and gotten the work done and, according to her, wasted almost $2,000.    She said he was a new estimator and said we asked for a price for seal coating and that was what we received.     I can't comment on whether or not what she says is true  as I am not a professional in the field. (others have told me that sealing will help preserve the driveway but eventually where there are alligator cracks it will get worse and will have to be replaced at some point).   I had alligator cracks for 6 years on a previous driveway and during that time they didn't get much worse but yes eventually it would have to be torn up and redone).   What I  expect from an estimator is someone who would give us an honest opinion on the condition of the driveway and what he recommends to do especially since his company does the full line of driveway repair.       If I had signed the contract after speaking with this gentleman and not call and ask questions to the lady who answered the phone I could have possibly wasted $2,000 - at least that is what they believe to be the case.
Response from The Asphalt Doctor, Inc.

"Dear Ms. [member name removed], It is our policy to provide customers with our honest recommendation. Sealcoating the driveway would have protected the areas that were not deteriorated and I did provide and estimate for that. Crackfiller however, would have increased the quote dramatically and done nothing to prolong the longevity of the driveway. It is unfortunate that you feel as though my honesty was unprofessional, but my company’s reputation is everything to me and I won’t compromise it. I would rather a customer be displeased that we deterred them from wasting their money than to have them unhappy with the final results. In regard to my estimator not speaking to you regarding his findings, as I explained to you on the phone, he left due to an uncomfortable situation that had arisen and he felt it would be best to leave the premises."

Someone had recommended them and then we double checked with Angie’s List and they had good ratings so we did end up going with them. They were not cheap, they were probably the highest bid but we got what we paid for. Our driveway is the best in the whole neighborhood and it stands out, as the lines are straight; we have a pretty nice neighborhood. They stood out a cut above. They are going to do maintenance for us too. I would recommend them to others.

The project was to remove an old driveway and reinstall a new one. Asphalt Doctor (Jeff)showed up when they said they would and were very professional in their work. Jeff was very conscientious that we knew what was happening and when. The job looks great and they did the exact scope of work I asked for. The work area was clean and they cleaned up every night. Would recommend this contractor to others for work.

We are delighted with the outstanding quality of work throughout the installation of our new driveway.  The Asphalt Doctor crew arrived on time, worked efficiently and professionally, and the finished driveway makes our entire house look amazing!
The quality of material used and the thoroughness of the work done is very much appreciated.  Owner Jeff works right along with his crew, and he carefully explained to us before and along the way everything that his crew was going to do.   Our nephew, who is a builder in another state, confirmed that the specifications detailed in the contract met very high standards for installing a new driveway.  We also read from New York State guidelines that our Town directed us to of what to look for when installing new driveway, and the Asphalt Doctor clearly met all of the requirements.
The Asphalt Doctor had been highly recommended to us by our contractor who had put on an addition for us.  Since we were so pleased with our contractor, we knew that whoever he recommended would be excellent, and when we read many positive reviews of the Asphalt Doctor on Angie's List, that clinched it for us.
We are extremely pleased with the outcome and will be recommending the Asphalt Doctor to all our friends.

Signed contract in August to seal driveway, I am a repeat customer.  Followed up with phone calls in August and September, was promised work would be done before weather became to cold.  Today  (October 23) called another Angie's contractor who advised me temperatures below 50 degrees not suitable for sealing.
I WILL NEVER USE THIS SERVICE AGAIN!!

Response from The Asphalt Doctor, Inc.

"Dear [Member name removed], I am sorry that we were unable to get your work done as quickly as you would have hoped. We have been trying to complete all of our sealcoating contracts to the best of our ability. Unfortunately the weather plays a major role and since Sept. there have been 24 days of precipitation and numerous other days when precipitation was in the forecast. We must also take into consideration the fact that there were customers who accepted their contracts prior to your acceptance on Aug.28th. In fairness we are trying to honor contracts based on their date of acceptance. We have not yet discontinued sealcoating this season and are still trying to fulfill our obligations. It is not unusual for temps to reach well above 50 after October so we are hopeful that all of our sealcoating will be completed. As is our policy, any contract that is not completed this year will be scheduled for completion when our season resumes next Spring. Again I would like to express my sincere apologies that you feel we did not live up to your expectations. Respectfully, Kathleen Trong"
