DONT WASTE YOUR TIME! Derek came to our home and reviewed our project and explained how they would handle our estimate. He went into detail on his professionalism and his background. He told us he would get us our estimate within a 2 - 3 weeks time. He had us meet with numerous subcontractors that he works with and his excavator came out to our home. After 3 weeks, I contacted his office for an update and was told there was only one piece of information he was waiting on to provide the estimate. This went on for 8 weeks. I was relatively patient but I did touch base each week to ask for an update. I was told they had all the pieces that were needed on week 7 and that I would get the estimate at the end of the following week. When I called at the end of the following week I was told that due to unforeseen circumstances, covid, etc. they would not be providing a quote. I wasted 8 weeks working with Derek's team and in the end they provided NOTHING!

Asked for an initial quote and then provided details for a final quote. Provided the same details to all six contractors for the final quote. The President of Straightline called me on the phone after our first meeting and prior to his 6/27 letter asking if his initial presentation was professional and how I positioned Straightline against other contractors. No quote had been provided at this point. Received a letter on 6/27/13 from Derek Acker, President, Straightline General Contractors. It had the following statements contained in the 4 para letter. "Our bid process keeps you, the customer, in mind and in reviewing what you have provided in your notes, it appears that you want to take a management role in the project. In my professional opinion this will negate or limit our role." "With all this in mind, the four page scope that you gave me does not provide enough information for me to provide you a budgeted proposal. Given the lack of detail with your finish selections and my understanding of a joint management project. I do not think this project as it is set up and being presented affords my Company the best opportunity to succeed." Make your own judgement if you would like to use this contractor. Other contractors responded with clarity and understanding. We did not use this firm and will never recommend them to anyone.
