Pool and Spa Servicing, Pool Construction and Installation
Short Answer If I had to do it over I would absolutely work with Gary and his guys from Cuomo Country Pools again. There is so much that can go wrong with a pool install and you just don't want people who are cutting corners. Gary and his staff do it right, and they are pleasant and efficient. The end result is a gorgeous pool with a liner that fits like it was painted on. There was a lot more to the process than we anticipated, but the project went nearly perfect. Gary and his crew do a quality job, and we were not disappointed.
LONG ANSWER: The owner Gary came to the house to make the sale and he is admittedly a contractor, not a salesmen. I had a few moments of hesitation because he is not a smooth talker, but in the end his sincerity and genuine honesty won us over. He will give you the pros and cons from his decades of experience in the industry, and in the end he tells you, the decisions are yours. He doesn't sell you anything you don't ask for. He will tell you all the options available and what has worked well and not so well, if you ask. He kept in touch with us, and once the permits and weather allowed, Gary and his crew showed when they said they would (bright and early, and ready to work). The process of digging the hole, putting the actual galvanized pieces together and putting the concrete surface around the pool floor took only two days. I have to say that Gary and his crew were always personable and pleasant. My six year old is cute, but can be a bit much. They were great to him and answered every question he had.
The electrician was a separate contractor that was recommended by Gary. He clearly stated that the electrician did good work, but we were free to look for a qualified electrician who might be a little cheaper. We should have. We paid about three hundred dollars more than we should have for the work performed by the electrician and his choice of putting the outlet and switches on a pressure treated 2x6 board was a bad choice. A 4x6 post would have looked a lot better. He is a good electrician, but we overpaid for that part. He did show up on time, as expected, and did exactly what he was supposed to do.
The installation of the concrete went well and again Gary and his crew did a great job. Gary also recommended that we maximize our use of concrete at the onset because it is easier to do it now and the result with regard to color matching is better because it is all from same pour. They did a great job laying out the patio framing and it looks so good! At first, I thought this might be a way to pad the bill, but he steered us away from the slippery, stamped concrete that was twice the cost compared to the brushed concrete because it is safer, and he installs both versions. Gary and his crew did a great job with the installation of the concrete. The decision we made to get an extra 600 square feet of concrete was for the best. Gary correctly advised us where to add the extra and where to keep the perimeter with the 3 feet that it comes with. The extra square footage makes using the pool so much nicer and the whole area more comfortable. The concrete guy showed up as if on demand and their partnership was seamless. There was no waiting for them to show up. When Gary's crew was done with the frame, the concrete guy was there within 15 minutes. The cost of the concrete was also very competitive.
The pool was 18x36 and 8 feet deep. There was a lot of dirt that had to be graded and they did a good job with that. It changed the layout of our yard and during our initial meeting Gary he had said that the dirt and equipment would have a big impact on our yard. The did a good job grading out all that dirt, but we had someone come in and hydroseed. That and another 20,000 sq. feet worth of loose seed, two weeks of constant watering and even in our sand we grew a healthy lawn in record time.
When the pool is done and you are ready to learn how to operate the equipment and figure out what you need Gary will give you the basic instructions on what you need to do. It isn't really enough instruction to be proficient right away, but we found comfort in the fact that Gary has been available to answer any questions we have had when we call. Gary will also introduce you to his wife Gina at this point. She is like the Queen of Cuomo Pools, and a master at pool chemistry. She is also the first person you get when you call the store. Both Gary and Gina know how to give real customer service. When you go to the store to meet her , she talks to you about what you need for your pool and makes it seem possible to do this well. She will tell you exactly what you need to do, and if you follow her instructions, you will not have any issues. As a result, we are more confident. The store they operate is a little far for us, but they are so nice and helpful, and most importantly, responsive. They are knowledgeable and a great resource. While some of our smaller purchases will be made closer to home, we will continue to patronize their business as much as possible.
The Negative-
1) While the grading looked good, there were a lot of small roots from the trees that were poking through all over. Its a small gripe, but Gary had said we wouldn't see any of the roots and when I mentioned that to him he acted put out, but attempted to make it better than it was. We did have to do more than we thought in terms of that part of the grading.

Not well~ they didn't get back with you, rude, no communication skills, not well verse in how to go about this repair work. We felt like we were forgotten about. The impression that they gave us was that they were too busy for us , maybe a different referral would have been a better way to handle it if they couldn't do the job.

Instead of trying to sell us a $200 part the owner offered a refurbished part for $50. Genuine care was shown and the owner went out of their way to help us solve our problem. When we arrived to pick up the part they helped us install it and offered lots of good advice. After this short encounter, we had wished we bought our inground pool from this company. They certainly seem trustworthy.

Pool and Spa Servicing, Pool Construction and Installation
Cuomo Country Pools was, and continue to be, awesome. Gary, Gina, Josh, Corey, etc were a great team and worked very quickly and efficiently to install our beautiful L-shaped inground pool. We have a sloped backyard that presented some unique challenges that were met with solutions that worked out great. After the initial installation we had some challenges and questions that Cuomo responded to promptly and professionally. Definitely recommend using this team to install pools and would never hesitate to recommend them and will continue to use them moving forward for services. Nothing negative to report with this team.
Thank you!
Thank you!

We have been doing business with Gary and Gina Cuomo for 20 years. They have installed 2 inground pools for us and have done all service and closings on our pools. They know what they are doing and we highly recommend them. We would not even consider using anyone else.

As I wrote above it went well. Appears to be a family run business, and even the Mom was great!
They did kept forgetting to put my ladder in and when they finally did, it was screwed in crooked. They were all very nice and polite.

Called Cuomo's on a referral. They diagnosed our likely problem over the phone, provided an estimate and scheduled service within 48 hours. The service call was on time, the diagnosis accurate and the final cost was below the estimate - a welcome suprise. The new pump works well and the pool is back to normal.

WE ARE HAPPY WITH THEM. THEY SERVICE OUR POOL EVERY YEAR. THEY ARE BETTER THAN THE OTHER ONE THAT IS OFFERED IN THIS AREA. WE ARE SATISFIED, THE POOL IS OPENED, WE SWIM AND EVERYTHING IS GREAT.
