Steve Hicks and his assistant, Randy arrived at the time stated on my answering machine. They examined the china closet carefully and decided the procedure they would use to move the china closet to the van.
They provided many clean, blue insulated packing blankets. Wrapping the china closet in several layers round and around and top to bottom, they also taped the blankets so that no part of the china closet was exposed.
They moved the china closet to the truck, placed layers of cardboard around the front and added more blankets. They strapped the the wrapped china closet to fasteners on the truck wall.
Randy kindle took pictures of the arrangement in the truck. The china closet was to be delivered in Owl's Head , Maine. They left here at 3:25 Thursday afternoon. They had other items to be delivered in Connecticut. I called Maine around 10:00 Am on Friday morning and the china closet had already been delivered in perfect condition. My Maine family commented on the courtesy and friendly manner of Steve and Randy.
A job well done.

We needed to move everything out of most of our house and store it for about 3 weeks so floors could be refinished. In sum that's exactly what happened. They showed up when they said they would. They quickly and carefully protected and removed the furniture, including a piano and several pieces with a lot of glass. They seemed to be very experienced and quickly solved problems like getting a large refrigerator through a small door. Everything was returned exactly on time, being very careful with our furniture and and with our newly refinished floors. The final price was a little less than the estimate. This seems to be a family business with a genuine attitude of respecting people and their possessions. Highly recomended.14850

Steve came out to look at what we would be moving, gave us a good quote, which was below several other movers. Then, when we talked several days later, he told us our load was larger (including a grand piano) than they were able to move (something about truck availability) at that time, and felt they couldn't do it.
We actually wanted them so badly that we bargained with them, and finally we worked out an arrangement with Steve to have them store some of our stuff on their truck for a week, and keep our remaining stuff in the four storage sheds for that week (finishing out the month). That's how committed we were to their moving us.
We had heard only good things about them from other friends and by this time felt they were the ones to move us!
Plus we really had confidence in Steve.
The crew who moved our stuff out worked very well together, were respectful and cheerful and fast.
They continually checked and double checked that they didn't miss anything, and they were very careful to wrap fragile things when needed. (We wrapped some of our things, they wrapped others, like TVs, Mirrors etc.)
We did not end up moving the Piano, it went in for repairs.
The complete move required the use of three trucks (not three huge moving vans) but adequate trucks.
The price didn't change.
They arrived on time on Saturday, September, 29 as promised with four young fellows to do the work.
This was the only down side, and the reason I gave them a B, in that I felt we could have used more workers.
The movers were great, but, given that we had so much stuff, (three trucks) I think we needed at least two more men at this end to unload our stuff.
Travis was an excellent supervisor, the guys were respectful and never seemed to tire of being directed. They worked from 10 am to about 11:30 at night with only a lunch break which we provided.
We had a very few things broken, which were already not in the greatest shape. (old pieces of furniture) All our dishes came through perfectly!
We definitely recommend this hometown moving company to anyone in the area!

Everything went well....Moved out of a rental without any problems. I couldn't have pulled that move off without them.

They were just wonderful. They helped pack up the stuff and moved it from Ithaca to Long Island. They stored everything until June or July at no extra charge. They didn't charge me for boxes and were magnanimous enough to let me add some things to storage later. They always answered my questions and explained everything. I felt like they were treating me like family! They understood what a crazy weekend it was for us. They were more than accommodating and reasonably priced. They always called if they were running late. I'd highly recommend then, especially for families moving stuff to and from Cornell.
