Frank Donato was courteous enough but misrepresented what he would accomplish. He and one other man spent 6 hrs. total for the job, and they did well as far as it went. But he'd said that the old and new cement (concrete, asphalt, whatever it was) would match the old, and I'd figured they'd come back in a few days to give a skim coat, or something, since what they left was off white on top of 20 year old (prob. more like 50) cement, a darkish gray-brown. It looked like a patchy mess, and we had told them we're putting the house on the market. He should have known all this, if he knew his business, and he's no beginner. When I called to ask when they're coming back to finish, he said they're done. I said it looked terrible and he should come back. Three days later, he did, and he would only say that he can't put a skim coat on because it wouldn't stick. He'd have to gouge the tops of each step deeper to do that and it would cost more. Stupidly, I'd handed him a check for the whole job that first day, accustomed as I was to my trustworthy regular fix-it guy. Now I learned, half up front.
