I hired Tom in the beginning of February to install hardwood flooring in my upstairs and stairway. He wanted 1800 in cash- 500 for materials and 1300 for half the cost. I had purchased most of the materials and asked him for a receipt for the 500 but he kept postponing it. Several weeks later, he told me that the subflooring had to be replaced and he needed an additional 800.00. I paid him. Meanwhile, he kept making excuses and not showing up to do the job. He had only completed part of my bedroom by late May. He called in the beginning of May and said he was willing to devote himself entirely to the job but he couldn't work unless I gave him an advance of 800 to pay for his insurance. Stupidly, I paid him again because I had been living on sub-flooring for months and was anxious to have the work done. He never returned after that or returned my phone calls. Tom has also collected money and not performed services for two other people that I'm aware of. He has been a no-show at both small claim hearings. Tom is basically a thief and complete liar. He will tell you that he can do any kind of work except paving driveways. He did an inferior job on my flooring and I'm glad Lumber Liquidators finished the installation. He says he is a licensed electrician and plumber but, again, he is not telling the truth. I strongly recommend that you do not hire him so that you can avoid the financial loss and emotional turmoil that I experience. I have attached 2 photos. My house looked like this from February until June. This job should have taken 3 days, not 4 months. Lumber Liquidators completed it in 2 1/2 days.
