Tangora Technologies, Inc.

This company was hired by my 85 year old mother for her home.  I did not witness the installation, which occurred over a two day span.  I was called, by my mother, the afternoon of the second day, after the contactor had finished and left.  She complained of strong odor of gas both inside and out.  I came to her home and could smell the gas, as soon as I got out of my car.  I walked around the generator and gas piping and the odor of gas was very strong. 

   I called two different phone numbers listed on their website and got voice mail prompts to leave a message.  I left a message on both, expressing my concern and asking for someone to come and inspect for leaks.  A man called back after about 10 minutes and said he would be here in 20 minutes.  He did not arrive for nearly an hour.  He approached the unit and pulled a barbeque lighter from his coat and began lighting it near generator and piping!  I expressed my concern and he stated that this how they have been checking for leaks, for years!  I backed away from the unit and he lit the lighter near the regulator exhaust vent on the exterior of the foundation.  There was a small fireball of gas exploding near his face.  I asked him not to light the lighter, anymore.  He went to the basement to inspect piping and regulator and I insisted that he not use his lighter, to inspect leaks.  He called the installer and told him about leaks and fireball outside the house.  I was told that the utility company's regulator had failed after the gas was turned back on, after installation of the generator.

      I was appalled that this company, would leave the job site, with a broken regulator spewing large amounts of gas, and not do anything about it!  I was told to call the utility company, to install new regulator.  I called the utility company and they came and installed new regulator, which stopped the flow of gas, through the vent pipe of foundation wall.  Utility company also found a very small gas leak at the union of the generator piping, which they fixed.  I guess the lighter method for leaks, does not work for very slow leaks!

           I wonder if this company's insurance agent is aware that they use lighters, to check for gas leaks!  Tangora Technologies put my mother at grave risk, as well as me and her house!  Beware!
