"I rescheduled this repair for the next day (The day before Thanksgiving). Her husband had tried to fix it before calling us and had shut off the circuit for the dining room lights. I was half way to the appointment when I called and got an answering machine. I left a message and turned around and headed back to my shop. She called and said she was now home and would I please come back, although I was now back at my shop with other calls to take, I returned. I found the problem in the basement light, repaired it, and replaced the chime on the wall that had been removed by her husband, restored power and tested the lights and doorbell. I was in her house longer than 20 minutes and had almost an hour total travel time. I also had with me a helper (that wasn't charged for) She was charged a standard service call and when she asked me to lower my rate, threatened me with a bad rating on Angie’s List. I am a professional with over 30 years in this business. I use lettered trucks, have an office and my men wear uniforms. I explained a service call covers all aspects of being in business, not just the time on site including phone calls, banking, picking up material, and even purchasing gas for the vehicles. I was very polite in answering her request to lower the standard pricing for something she perceived as taking no time. I went out of my way to get her dining room lights on for Thanksgiving and she followed through with her threat. My Grandfather started this business in 1914 and I pride myself on being personable and professional ."
