John came over to replace the cartridge and, after struggling for a while, he was unable to get the old cartridge out. He had been assuming this would be a quick job and had another job lined up for afterwards, so he was unable to finish and left me with a hole in my shower. 
Ultimately, we called another plumber who was able to fix the problem. While I don't think that John caused the cartridge to become stuck, he seemed unsure as to what to do to get it out. Although the job ended up being bigger than he anticipated, he left us with no shower handle and a gaping hole and didn't call to follow up with me for nearly a week. While I understand that a sole proprietor of a plumbing business has to cover all of his calls, he ultimately ditched our job for a bigger one and then didn't follow up in what I thought would be a reasonable amount of time. 
This was also the second experience with John where we felt that perhaps he didn't know exactly what he was doing, and that perhaps he was not experienced enough to accurately diagnose and fix a problem. John is a nice guy and he is generally very responsive when we call, but I am not sure I am confident in his abilities and would likely not call him again.

Because the sink is an older model faucet, we didn't have all of its information because it was in the house when we moved there. However, John did a visual inspection of the faucet and then went home and spent time on the Internet researching the particular faucet, figuring out which parts we needed and how to repair it. He was thorough, did his homework and fixed the faucet despite the fact that the parts the manufacturer sent were not the correct ones. 
Also, John explained the entire process to me so that I would understand exactly what the fix was and why, and he left behind for my inspection all of the parts that were removed from the faucet.
He was personable and was conscious of doing the work in the most time-effective way possible so that we weren't paying for more time than we needed. 
I think his prices are very fair, and the quality of his work was excellent. This was actually our second visit from John; he came in a few weeks ago to fix some bathroom faucets and we were impressed with his work that time, as well.
We definitely intend to keep his number in our speed-dial for any time we need a plumber!

I had worked with John on several small jobs with good experiences so I decided to have him install the plumbing for a brand new kitchen in our home. John was able to work around the schedule of the other contractors so that the new plumbing was installed right around the time we were ready for it. John installed new hot and cold water lines, a drain, a garbage disposal, a dishwasher, a faucet and moved our natural gas line to the new location of the stove. Everything John worked on passed inspection by the town and is in fine working order.

John did a great job. We have had John do several other plumbing projects this year, too. He always comes on time or calls if he needs to change the date/time.

I've used him for years.  He's a very honest man, hard working, and does the work well.  He communicates well and if he'll be late, he lets you know.  Very responsive and if he doesn't know what to do, he won't do it.
