"The cutomers called me for an estimate in November 2012, which I provided. They initially said they wanted the work done right away, but then put it off. I had to work, so started on other jobs. When they decided to start, in January I was only available on weekends. I told them I could only do light plumbing, and would not be able to tell the extent of plumbing and electrical work until I saw what was involved as I proceded. After seeing how much there was , I recommended they get a plumber, but they wanted me to do it. It was very complicated, and during the process I consistently told them it was more than I could do. They did not want to pay a plumber's cost, so they asked me to do it anyway. As to the estimate, since they were long time customers, I gave them a low price for the labor. As the job progressed, they wanted extra work done that was not in the original estimate, but they said it should have been. How could I have included cost for work I did not know they wanted? When I said it would be additional, they agreed to the extra amounts, but then would not pay. I never pocketed material money . If anyone else had done the work, minus plumbing, it would have cost them at least twice as much. When I finished the work, they said thy were happy, and paid me less than a third of what I had told them the additional work would be. I left it at that, not wanting to haggle. I never got a letter from them, so I assumed all was OK. If they were that unhappy, they should have called me."
