I will start with how I get to call Big Ant .
Like in the movies about natural disasters, Sandy hit and we were not prepared. Just received the generator we ordered due to Irene by chance on Friday before the storm.
We had the sub panel to be installed, so we can power the gas burner and some of the appliances in the house and identified the connections to be moved already. We had an appointment with another company to install it for that week. Bad timing, no one answered the phone and I started calling electrical companies from Angie's list.
Most of them answered, however they were not able to give any appointments soon.
Having a generator with wires laying in the house and no hot water for a shower is not a winning situation.
Calling Big Ant (using Skype, cell phones/land lines didn't work) and just give my address - you cannot call me back, I do not have a Skype number ....- for someone to pass by the same day in the next 2 hours.
I didn't expect much when I heard knocks at the door. Anthony was there and I liked his approach: "Time is money; where is the transfer panel?".
My original estimate was around 4 hours of work to have it installed for 350 to 400$.
Joking and moving like a pro to my surprise he finished it in half of time.
The rate was very good, being in the third day after a hurricane when everything was down (we got the power back after 2 weeks...).
The new panel worked great during those 2 weeks and everything is working seamless now with the power back.
The second part was his holiday gift (during this 2 hours I mentioned that I wasn't fully prepared - I had only 2 gal gas can for a 6 gal generator and my next (impossible) mission after finding an electrician was to find bigger gas cans and gas.
About gas I was right on the money; the crisis hit with powerless stations and later gas-less stations.
After finishing everything and leaving, he returned, knock at the door and hand it over a 5 gal gas can saying "Holidays came early this year..".
Thank you for the gift; it was extremely useful during the next week and a half and made a difference for our family!

Subsequently, we had to hire a new electrician to redo the closet fixture which had sparked and burnt out within weeks (due to improper wiring). The new electrician found the rest of his work not to code as well, and altered it.
"Hello, I understand that this work was done 5 years ago. But I would still like to take a moment to apologize about the poor experience you had working with our company. Just to let you know, we do stand by all of our work and warranty EVERYTHING for one year from the original service date. If you wanted a switch installed, we would have done so with no hesitation but the cost would have been additional. I was not working here at the time of service, but I do thank you for letting our technician know that he accidentally left tools at your home. Lastly, if anything had "sparked" and you notified us, we would have come back immediately and taken care of that for you. If you had preferred we would have sent another technician to your home instead of Jerry. Thank you for taking the time to review our company and for working with us. If there's anything we can do for you to restore our working relationship please let me know. I can be reached via email at Stefanie@bigantelectric,com or by phone: 631-586-5598 x20. Again, I apologize about the poor experience you had with us. Sincerely, Stefanie Executive Assistant"
