It took them only three days to do the job.  The price was for both the house and the garage.  Their estimate was $7200.00.  With roofing, if they were to get under the shingles and find out that you have another roof under it, they may have had to remove that roof which meant it would have cost more or they may have had to put some different wood underneath to hold the shingles.  For mine, it ended up costing them $200.00 less because of the garage and they gave me the money back.  They didn't have to do that because there was no way of me knowing.  I thought that was great.  I got estimates and my neighbor and I both did it.  I told my neighbor that I would get the people here and he should talk to them because he knows about all this stuff.  We got some estimates and between the estimates and just talking to them and getting a gut feeling, that's who we went with.  I don't necessarily bide with going with the lowest estimate.  Going above and beyond was refunding the money.  There was no way for me to know that the guy didn't need all the materials that he said he needed.  There was a problem with a leak in the roof afterwards because it was near the chimney.  As soon as I called him and told him about it, he had somebody come out and they repaired that.  They were very good except for the cleaning up of the nails afterwards.  I know it's a hard thing to do.  My neighbor went out and did that.  I wouldn't even consider that a complaint on my part.  The roof is holding up well.  They probably had four or five other roofs that they did on our street besides doing my neighbor's and mine.  Other people saw them and saw their work so they hired them.  Who knows what else they got from people driving by.
