"What a shame than in spending a year together planning this client's dream kitchen that the overall takeaway was this. The client did not mention that she is thrilled with the end result of my kitchen and bath designs: the beautiful, fully hand-crafted, custom cabinets made in Vermont, the one of a kind 5' custom brass exhaust hood, unique granite countertops and gorgeous glass tile backsplash. What was not mentioned was all the changes that this client had made, post approval. Not accepting that such changes would affect her completion date, these long time experienced resources of mine all scrambled to try to accommodate her and make her happy, sometimes sending cabinet items separately and making multiple trips. This caused extra work in sorting pieces, and for the installation. There were a few glitches where an incorrectly sized powder room cabinet was fully refunded, and a cracked countertop during installation was replaced while this client was on vacation, at no charge to her of course. My almost weekly on site meetings were never less than 2 hours long, making sure this client had expressed everything on her mind. Almost daily texts and emails were returned and answered immediately, long into the evening if necessary. My takeaway on this experience was that even though you can try to do your best, some people just can not be pleased. And as my business has grown to this level, the law of averages says that one must encounter at least one person like this...."
