Digging a foundation went very well. The contractors began the job on time and work progressed well. There was a big problem with many subcontractors. An electrician did not follow the architect’s plans; installed track lighting incorrectly, ran wiring that had to be redone and did not provide proper wiring for the fans we purchased. An electrical switch installed behind a door is useless; you enter a pitch dark room and have to fumble for the switch behind the opened door. The contractor will not respond and move the switch so that the light can be turned on before entering the room. This is pretty basic stuff. Another subcontractor did not follow guidelines and harmed an elevator that we use for a disabled family member. This made it impossible for us to live in the home for 2 months. Eventually Wolfe Builders reimbursed us for the costs of repair required for the elevator. A sliding glass door does not open well and gets jammed. French doors jam and cannot be opened or closed. I have shown this problem to the owner of the company and he will not correct the problem. It is a major inconvenience. An expensive deck was not installed using screws but rather with a nail gun. They are already loosening after one year. Other company employees damaged a tree that died. The company would not acknowledge this. In each of these cases I tried to discuss these concerns with the Wolfe Builders. Appointments were made for which the contractor did not show up. While the overall quality of the structure seems satisfactory, many smaller parts of the projects such as built in shelving and interior doors were executed below standard and are visually disturbing. They upped the cost of the project excessively at every small change order. I would caution against using Wolfe Builders.
Description of Work: We had an additional room added to our home. We employed an architect who provided drawings and plans.
