It took them three hours to do the job.  Everything is working wonderfully once they were finished.  Jason Merone is the best.  he was efficient, came on time, did a neat job, and I didn't have to clean up after him, excellent.

Jason was on time and very amiable.  He had a worker and they spent about 1.5 hours there.  He also gave us an approximate estimate on a new oil burner, and sat down & discussed our options.  This was in addition to the above time.
The bill for replacing the filter and changing the valve and checking operation was $532 .  This is what I really had a problem with.
When I questioned Jason, he stated that he felt it was reasonable.  He charged an additional $236 dollars for the installation and supply of the pressure valve.
He didn't bill anything extra for the condensate hose to the sump pump.
I have no complaints about the service, however, the price to both my husband and I seems exorbitant. We have worked with many plumbers before in the office and & at home and have never had this experience.  I would suggest that if you are going to use them to have all the costs  in a written estimate before. I suppose that that's where we went wrong.
Clearly, we will not use them for a new oil burner and hot water tank.

I needed a plumber for a leaky kitchen faucet and a leaky toilet.  I contacted two plumbing companies and chose Merone because they were local.  Their website offered a $25 credit off your first service.  I described my problems over the phone to Mark Merone and he said he suspected the issue with the toilet was "sweating", but didn't give any diagnosis over the phone for the faucet.  He quoted me their hourly labor rates.  $175 for the first hour, $125 for each additional hour after that.  He said he hoped both problems could be fixed in that first hour.
My appointment was set for 3:15.  Jason Merone called me ahead of time to say he was running a few minutes late and arrived at 3:20.  Within about 20 mins he had assessed both the toilet and leaky faucet.  He said a rubber seal would be needed for the toilet and said my entire faucet would need to be replaced in the kitchen.  I asked if there was not a lesser repair that could be made to the faucet to stop the leaking, such as installing new o-rings or seals, and he said no, which seemed strange to me.  I've  had leaky faucets in the past, and a new rubber seal often fixed the problem.
I asked what he estimated the total cost would be.  He quoted me $250 labor for the kitchen faucet which included a $50 charge to move the position of my garbage disposal under the sink to accommodate the repair/replace.  And quoted me $160 for the toilet rubber ring.  He said he would call Best Plumbing supply to inquire about a new faucet and came back with $270.  He wrote all costs down on his scratchpad and asked if it was ok.  I was not thrilled with having to buy a new faucet on the spot without being able to shop around and compare prices, but he was at my house, and it would have cost me another hour of labor for him to come back out so I agreed.  Based on his quote, I was expecting a bill of $680 prior to the $25 first service credit.
When he returned,  He had the faucet, with no packaging as you would expect to accompany a newly purchased faucet.  And he had no receipt as proof of the cost.  The toilet repair took no more than 30 mins.  It was very straight forward and Jason's assistant was able to complete the repair alone while Jason worked on the faucet.  He completed the repairs and then provided me with the final bill by 4:50pm.  $570 for the kitchen faucet and $250 for the toilet if I paid cash (using a CC would have been an additional 4% fee).  No deduction was shown for the $25 credit, and the labor and materials were $140 more than what he had quoted me.  I asked about the $25 credit and he said I was not entitled to it since I didn't make the appointment on the website.  (by the way the only disclaimer on the website is that you can't combine with other offers, it says nothing about not applying to appointments made by phone).  I didn't have the cash readily available so Jason said I could pay within the week.
I called the next day and spoke to Mark Merone to complain about what I felt was a grossly inflated service bill.  Mark basically tap danced around and said if Jason quoted those prices then it must be correct since he was the one on the job site and that perhaps the toilet repair cost more than originally anticipated (see my previous comment about the straightforward repair).  He offered no apologies, refunds or even to honor the $25 service credit.
I'm very surprised at seeing the positive reviews from other customers.  The work seems to have been done to a satisfactory level, however I consider these basic plumbing repairs, so one would not expect a leaking toilet and faucet to be difficult for any professional plumber.  I will never use Merone Plumbing again nor would I recommend them to others.  I feel they were unprofessional and dishonest about their costs and find it extremely unprofessional to not provide me with a receipt for nearly a $300 faucet they claimed to have just purchased.  With so much competition out there on Angies list and other provider services, you would think Merone Plumbing would want to do right by their customers and honor the $25 first service credit at a minimum.   And if they do plumbing repairs such as this as their core business, then one would also expect that they could precisely quote their labor costs for such routine repairs as mine.

Our original appointment time was 4pm.  He called and said he was unexpectedly running late on the job prior to ours and said he did not want to disrupt our dinner.  I asked him for his approximate ETA.  He said 5pm, which was not a problem for us.  He arrived within 10 minutes of that time.  We found him to be very professional, honest and knowledegable as well as just a nice guy.  We will definitely use Merrone Plumbing again and have already recommended this company to our neighbors. .
