David Fraser and his team provided excellent service during our basement renovation. David submitted a fair and reasonable estimate especially compared to many of the other estimates. He was an absolute pleasure to deal with together with his team, they were nothing short of professional, responsive and nice to deal with.  David was straight forward and fair with extras that were added to the job scope. He was on the job as needed and continually checked on the work and his team.  One advantage of working with David is that some of his team are direct employees. All of his subs were wonderful to deal with. I cannot say enough good things about David Fraser and team. This is the 4th bit of work in our house and I think this experience was the best

Fraser Builders worked for about three weeks removing and installing new floors, baseboards, doors, frames, and crown molding. They were efficient and professional at each step. They worked full days and when I returned each day the house was cleared and cleaned up from the days work. They were extremely flexible and were able to accomodate several additional projects that we discussed along the way all while managing our agreed upon budget. The work was done expertly and efficiently. We were very pleased with our experience as well as our final outcome!

Fraserbuilders had worked on my mother's kitchen (and did a fabulous job) about two years ago, so when the time came for us to remodel we called Dave. Our kitchen was a narrow, old, dark galley in an older home. Dave came by and helped us visualize the possibilities. His suggestion was to completely tear out the kitchen to the studs and subfloor. They had to square the walls, and redo the subfloor to get everything balanced. He lifted the ceiling 10 inches. He took down a half-wall and opened up our kitchen into our rear entrance area/mudroom. When he was done, our kitchen was longer, higher, lighter and the open area spanned the entire back of our house. The kitchen looks so much bigger.

The cabinets were installed and finished with painstaking care. Usually you'll have an "issue" or "adjustment" after their in, but everything has been perfect since installation months ago. The finishing and woodwork is superior.

Dave's crew also paints, and having done all new sheetrock all around, we needed it primed and finished. Not a problem. His talented crew did a fantastic job of taking everything to finish.
We had linoleum in the old kitchen and rugs in the back of the house. At Dave's suggestion we had them install new oak floors throughout. They met up to, and matched the oak floors in the front of our house. Great job.

Dave said it would take a month. He began on April 1 and walked out on April 30. He communicated every step of the way. Problem? He thoughtfully approached us and explained what needed to be done.  Flexible? Yes, if we wanted to change or add something, he willingly took care of it. Value? His estimate was tight, and he gave us an idea of what extra's would cost us along the way. LIke any construction project you have to include 15-20% of "extras", but Dave did his level best to keep to his original estimate. Truth told, our project was about 10% over our estimate. We were thrilled.

Dave's workers are dedicated and hard-working and he has a hand-picked group of "subs" (electric/plumbing/flooring) that are professional, and who clearly enjoy working with him.

Bottom line: We've lived here for 25 years and have endured remodels before. This was the best work we've ever had done and we are in the process of planning another job for Dave in the coming months. Recommend him highly.

I found Fraser Builders through my architect. David Fraser was one of the few contractors willing to bid on the job. Although he was not the least expensive on paper, he turned out to be in the long run as he did lots of little extras and painted (several times). David and his subcontractors were great from the start. I met all the subcontractors at the beginning of the job and was able to explain that I was going for a period look and wanted to use as many period materials as possible, such as a period sink, antique medicine cabinet in the bathroom, 1930's window in the bathroom, period hardware, etc., which each presented their various problems. They were great at accommodating me and David even took off the costs of anything that I ended up providing that he normally would have provided. David's crew worked long hours and even over the weekend to get the job done in the timeframe that was agreed. As we didn't have a clue what we were doing and had to make lots of decisions at the last second, they were always wonderful about making suggestions and making sure that we knew what they needed next so that we didn't delay the project. One of the best things about David was the communication. Of course there were problems and delays, as my marble countertop got delayed, which delayed the contractor I had hired separately to do custom kitchen cabinets, otherwise everything would have been completed right on time. David never left me hanging. Just a few side stories: I hated the color I picked out for the kitchen and both bathrooms. David said "no problem, it happens" and proceeded to repaint everything once I gave him a new color. They did other great things like hanging a banister going down to the basement, giving me extra shelving for my pantry, making a marble shelf over the stove, building a tile nook in the bathroom by the tub for shampoos, figuring out how to hang a medicine cabinet in a corner, etc. They made sure molding matched the original molding as much as possible. Their goal was to make it lovely and right. David didn't charge extra for these things, but they made the project perfect for me. If I didn't like something, we discussed it, and it got fixed. All in all, it ended up being a great experience. I'm already planning the next renovation and I would definitely use them again. They were great!

Dave and his team worked together like clockwork. His workers and subcontractors sometimes worked on weekends to keep on schedule - and we were done with in one week of the 3 month schedule - and this may have been due to a delay in our receiving our tile as fast as we thought. But, this is not the best thing about working with Dave. He was the lowest bidder by far, and they all did great work. Dave worried about how things turned out, and went out of his way to be sure that the finished products looked great. He called us each time there was a question or an issue and was a great problem solver. He made sure we were happy with any changes or alternative suggestions.
