"Thanks [Member Name Removed] for the review. Loretta and I are glad we finally got together."
"Thank you for your review. Loretta"
I would recommend him highly to all my friends and neighbors.
I am not even going to go into the appropriatness of pricing a job based on your neighbourhood and will focus on the fact that they were quoting about $100/foot of dryer vent for cleaning. You got to be in Westchester to hear this stuff and think they are serious as it would be seen as a joke anywhere else.
After further investigation I realized that the dryer vent should actually be replaced which was done at a fraction of the price this provider quoted for cleaning.
"OMG Our first bad review after 20 years in business - AND IT'S ABOUT A QUOTE Angie?????? In my efforts to be as honest and accurate as possible, I like to give minimum AND maximum price. When Craig ARRIVES at a location; he will determine a price. CRAIG DID NOT WORK FOR [Member name removed] Hunterbrook in Yorktown Hgts, NY have about 4 configurations of dryer vent systems. As explained to [Member name removed] the worst case scenario is $209 for a dryer vent sweep and chimney inspection. (Some dryer vents are on the roof, side of the house, and some are just unsafe and horrendous). If the chimney needs to be swept, then it's additional. Replacement of a dryer vent hose for 2-3 foot run and dryer vent /fireplace inspection when looking at a recent customers paperwork in Hunterbrook were $95.00 including tax. I have seen prices for these services as low as $29.95, be very careful with low quotes. The average is about $169-250 for an honest job done. A homeowner in this complex recently paid another company $200 for a dryer vent cage; which should have been $10-20! When choosing a contractor, please contact Westchester County Consumer Protection Agency, VERIFY license and insurance and ask "are there any complaints" against a company, check out CSIA.ORG and make sure when someone says you need work done, tell them to show you, as Craig does, videos and pictures (before and after) AND get multiple written estimates. Craig Ford is a Professional Yonkers Fire Lieutenant (retired) and has been a CSIA CERTIFIED SWEEP for over 20 years. We like to keep customers for life and try to be as up front as possible with our family of customers and for this I get a bad review. Thank you for the opportunity to reply, Loretta Ford C. F. Ford Chimney Service Inc., est. 1986 Chimney Safety Institute of America Certified Chimney Sweep #3938 "Hallmark of Excellence""
Recently a boiler technician did a fantastic job tuning up our boiler . However during his visit, he immediately noticed that the vent for our gas hot water heater was clogged. In addition, he also noticed that the positioning of the boiler flue and the water heater vent into the chimney was incorrect and not up to code. Because of the imminent danger of using a hot water heater with a clogged vent, he immediately turned off the hot water heater. He told us that we needed to call a chimney repair person to unclog the vent, reposition the water heater vent and the vent for the boiler, and make a determination if we needed to install a liner in our chimney.
The situation presented a major problem for us because we had no hot water. Using a few of the recommendations of the boiler technician and Angie's list, we immediately got on the phone and called 5 chimney companies. Craig Ford, the owner of C.F. Ford Chimney Service, Inc. got back to us immediately. His wife Loretta was extremely helpful and sensitive to our situation. She assured us that Craig would definitely come out later in the day to make an honest assessment of our situation and work to make the necessary repairs. By the way, Craig was the only technician who was willing or able to deal with our emergency on the day that the call was made.
Craig is a skilled professional who is honest, respectful, sensitive to the needs of his customers, and extremely competent and knowledgeable. He works neatly and efficiently. As a retired professional fire lieutenant and an excellent technician, he was able to give us an in-depth assessment of the situation and provide us with sound and HONEST advice. In addition, his prices are reasonable. Both Craig and his son, who worked with him, did an excellent job cleaning the chimney, and removing the blockage, which allowed us to restore our hot water. Craig indicated that at present we do not need a liner for our chimney, but we still have to hire a plumber to come in to reposition the boiler and the hot water heater vents. It is always great to find a repair person with an exceptional work ethic who you can TRUST.
Would I recommend, C.F. Ford Chimney Services to other people ? Yes, YES, MOST DEFINITELY YES. In addition, I will make it a point to have C.F. Ford Chimney Services do general chimney inspections and cleanings as well as make the necessary repairs to our chimneys for any future problems that may develop.
