We are family owned and operated, offer free estimates, and 24 hour emergency service. We accept all forms of payment including major credit cards, even AMEX. Our company is fully licensed & insured, including Worker's Compensation, disability, and liability insurance. We offer an additional 5% off to senior citizen & new home owners too. After several years of gutter cleanings, minor repairs, and this past spring the installation of a new roof, I highly recommend Pete's Chimney & More: 1. Honesty. Peter provides a forthright, "customer-first" assessment of whatever issue you bring to him. I respect that this will include a) recommendations that mean less business for him in the near term (do the minor repair not the major replacement, or "wait and watch"), and b) clear identification of when a problem is out of his wheelhouse. (Although he has recommended other good local vendors to use when he knows of one.) 2. Quality. I have been satisfied with all of the work Peter and his crews have done for my home. Part of it is probably the quality of the workers he brings to jobs, but it's also that unlike many other providers, Pete is on site not just at the start and end of a major job, but at several checkpoints throughout. 3. Customer service. I can honestly say, I've never had a local business respond as promptly to messages or get a crew out on an urgent issue as quickly as Peter. He also accommodated (at no charge) a small but last minute change to the scope of work on my roof which provided me substantial peace of mind (and saved me future headache and money to address) 4. Fair price. He's not the cheapest, but his prices are very competitive for the Clarkstown area and a very good value for the reasons above.

Reached out to Peter by phone on a Friday afternoon for an estimate on a chimney cap and animal guard. Within 10 minutes I had an estimate and an hour later the crew was on the roof completing the job. While on the roof they found that the vent boot was completely deteriorated and replaced that as well. All communication before, during, and after the job was very professional and timely. Probably one of the best home service experiences that I have had!

The company was very responsive to our inquiry. Following our call for a quote, Pete came over the following morning to provide an estimate. He answered our questions quickly and intelligently, and seemed to be honest with limiting the proposed work to only what was necessary to fix the problem (cold air draft and animals entering through open chimney damper). After retaining the company's services, they showed up the following day to perform the work. The company was easy to work with and payment exchange was no problem. I would definitely recommend Pete's Chimney to others looking for an honest and professional company.

If you don't want to read the whole review (it's on the long side), here's the summary: Pete’s Chimney and More is a business that will exceed all of your expectations with work that is first rate and an owner who goes out of his way to make the experience so user friendly that for once you won’t dread the process of needing to have work done on your house. And now for the details… We needed to have the chimney on our house repaired. I called Pete’s Chimney, as I had water leaking into the attic from a crumbling chimney. Even though the answering machine said that they were on vacation, within minutes I received a return call from Pete and had set up an appointment for the day after New Years. When I picked up my mail on 12/31, however, the estimate was already in my mailbox with a clear itemization of the work that needed to be done. The estimate was more than fair, and given his willingness to come out on a holiday, I knew immediately we were moving ahead. Pete runs his business as if he is taking care of his family, as you feel as if your problem is his problem. He was able to make an appointment for the end of the week, keeping in touch with me to let me know when he was coming, what to expect, etc. The work is actually for my mother’s house, and as she is elderly and disabled, he went out of his way to make sure she would be comfortable with all of the plans. Ultimately, he was able to move the work up a day taking advantage of the nice weather, calling me to make sure that this would work for my mother. When his team arrived, they immediately got down to work not even stopping to come inside to warm up, and it was a very brisk day! (They even passed on pizza in order to keep working!) The work done was top-rate, with the chimney angles crisp and clean. The work area was tidy the entire time and was left immaculate looking better than when they had started. (I’m not making this up; they had a leaf blower to make sure nothing was left amiss!) When the team left, I had a question for Pete and within minutes of texting him, he replied. I called him, and he went through his answer in detail explaining how the chimney had been reconstructed. While his answer far exceeded my question, I so appreciated his willingness to spend the time making sure I was completely satisfied with all parts of the job. In the end, the job was even more thorough than I had expected, and I now look forward to my new chimney’s long life! So often, and rightfully so, people write reviews when things don’t go well. I’m not sure that we spend as much time writing reviews when things go well. In this case, I could not be happier or more pleased with my interactions from start to finish with Pete’s Chimney and More. Pete’s integrity as a business owner and the expertise of his team stand out making me thrilled to see that he offers many other services that we will be able to use in the future. If you are looking for someone who is honest, thoughtful, and who will work with you to get the job done the right way, you don’t need to look any further than Pete’s Chimney and More.

Very well! Pete's team is hard working and efficient and he supervises everything. As a plus, he helped us with a roof leak from a plumbing vent. He had placed this roof nearly two years ago for us, and the leak was not his fault, but he took responsibility for it and helped us get it fixed, covering the cost himself--- a very upright contractor!

We had used Pete before to do some roof repair and were impressed with the professionalism of him and his team. We learned that Pete also handles dryer vent repair and cleaning. A need for that service arose because we purchased a new washer and dryer, and the retailer advised that everything (dryer vent, washer hookups, etc.) needed to be in place for installation. The existing dryer vent was old and full of lint, and more importantly, not in the location where we needed it to be for installation. We called Pete in and he and his team removed the old vent and installed a new one in the correct location. As it so happens, the initial vent installed was soft pipe, but it turns out we needed hard pipe. Without any hassle, Pete had his team back on site the next morning and replaced the soft pipe with hard pipe for no extra charge. All in all, a very positive experience.

I called Pete to set up an appointment for an estimate, he was here the next day as promised. He surveyed the situation and told me my options. What I liked most was that he didn't try to get me to purchase a more expensive cover than I needed in my particular case. After agreeing upon a price for the work to be done and a date, a crew of 3 showed up right on time. Pete stayed in touch throughout the process to let me know when the crew would arrive. The crew arrived, were very polite and professional and completed the work within 90 minutes. The work looks great, the workers were neat, no issues whatsoever. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone and will definitely be using them again in the future.

Pete called me and said it was unnecessary to repoint. Just needed new flashing and waterproofing. He gave a couple of quotes, one for copper and one for aluminum. When I asked if the copper was recommended (because it was more expensive), he said, "No, some people like the look for their home. Will last the same amount of time." What I appreciated most from Pete was he never tried to oversell me or take advantage of me. I knew very little about chimneys, and he could have easily told me the chimney needed to be repointed and other issues..., but he was honest, punctual, and well priced. Truly and highly recommended!

I asked Pete to tune up my roof. He found some damages and after doing the job, my house became a water park everytime it rain. I didn't had any leaks in my house, but 900$ later I paid for leaks. I call Pete and he say he would come back and never saw the guy againg.

"i usually don't respond to good or bad reviews but I must respond to this. First of all, whenever you called in the past(you used us for other services) I've returned your calls promptly, scheduled immediate service, and arrived when I said I would, so an F for responsiveness and punctuality seems quite harsh. As far as the work we did for $900, I pulled up that invoice. On 8/28/17 you called and said you had a "soft spot" on the roof. We came over Iimmedistely and recommended a small repair for $150 as i did not feel the whole roof needed changing at that moment, especially because their was no leaking. We also recommended a repair on your furnace pipe and some small sealing. You told us to proceed with the work. I guess I should've sold you a $12,000 roof job instead of $350 in precautionary measures, especially since your roof wasn't leaking. The chimney repair was $550 & encompassed most of the $900 bill. There is no issues with the chimney. The other few items we did were sealing vents and skylights with tar for $200. At the time we did that work the roof was not leaking but was in fact over 20+ years old. Tar does not make roofs leak. Old age, weather, & wear and tear do. You just moved in not too long ago and asked if the roof had some time. I thought it did. To blame the rain and leaks on work that we did is preposterous! And to give an F across the board is even more absurd when you read my other reviews on Angie's List. You should have called me to discuss any issues instead of trying to ruin my business with an illegitimate review. Speaks volumes of your character! Wait you did call me. On 10/15/2917. For a new roof estimate. So despite giving me F's across the board for prior services you still chose to call me for a new roof. Huh? You call back a contractor that you bash online and give F's across the board? Makes no sense. Sounds like sour grapes to me."

Friendly, professional, prompt. One thing I really appreciated was that I got a quote from another company who said the chimney needed to be repointed at a cost of $1,500 - but Pete said it didn't need doing at this point and that the structure looked solid. Recommended just caulking some of the minor holes. That's how you make a customer for life - I appreciate Pete for being honest about what does and does not need to be done.

Pete came to my house with 2 other workers in tow. He inspected my chimney and pointed out several things that were wrong, most obviously, loose bricks. He would later provide an estimate for that repair. He then cleaned my fireplace flue and looked at my boiler flue. He pointed out some crumbling tile and said that I was not venting safely and it was so bad that he didn't want to clean it as it might make a bad situation worse. He recommended installing a stainless steel flue liner and estimated the cost at roughly $3000. Due to the high cost, I had another chimney inspector come out to take a look. He informed me that only the top 2 flue tiles were in bad shape and all things considered, they weren't that bad and if the chimney repair was done correctly, those tiles would be replaced anyway. This second chimney inspector also does flue liner installations and said he would not try to sell me a liner. I don't know if Pete was being intentionally dishonest or not but I would certainly get a second opinion if he tries to tell you that you are not venting safely and need to have such an expensive repair.

"I appreciate your review but have major concerns with it and more so with your "second opinion." It is pretty commonplace that if a top section of flue tile is deteriorated, as was confirmed by your second contractor, then there is a more than strong possibility that the lower flue tiles are damaged. And since your second contractor confirmed my findings with the too section of chimney damage then YOU WERE NOT VENTING SAFELY. Duh??? Heat is at its hottest point when it leaves your boiler or fireplace and decreases as it goes up the chimney SO that usually causes lower flue tiles to deteriorate first! Did the second contractor offer a video inspection? If not, then your conclusion that I might be dishonest is as ridiculous as your review. What a joke!!! Did you get a third opinion to confirm either prior recommendations from me or the second guy? Pay the fee to put a video camera down your flue then write a review based on the facts!! This has to be the absolute dumbest review ever written. You got two different opinions and you slam me? Take a hike!!! Who's to say the second opinion was incorrect? You are a fool!!!!"

Pete is the best! I called Saturday, got an appointment Tuesday. He came on time. The work was fast and clean. He noticed that the dryer needed the vent to be repaired, which he did in a couple of minutes and did not charge me anything crazy. He's not the kind of guy who recommends unnecessary work, and prices are reasonable. Under $300 for both. I'll use him again and recommend him to others.

His work was excellent. Solved a smoke problem and re-pitched gutter to fix my problem. His prices seemed a little high, but since his work is so good I would hire him again. I plan to do so in the fall to get my chimney cleaned.

Pete returned my call within an hour and stopped by to evaluate the leak that same day. Pete identified some issues on the roof and suggested a conservative approach to see if it would work instead of a larger repair. His crew came that afternoon and completed the repair. After several rain storms, the repair appears to have corrected the problem. Pete was right on target with his recommendation.

I opted to have the better quality damper installed, along with everything else. Pete was extremely professional in explaining what needed to be done. There was no pressure, but he did explain that what the purpose of the damper and ash dump door was. He's very responsive by text and phone and takes the time to review your options with you. He will be my go-to guy whenever I need the "& more" stuff done. Thanks Pete!
