"[Member Name Removed] is an insurance Adjuster and deals with contractors all the time. When we got to Ken’s house it was already under construction . We sheet rock his attic space with approximately 30 boards of sheet rock with tape spackle primer and paint. When it came time to pay at the end of the job [Member Name Removed] flipped out saying the walls were wavy as he put a 4 foot level on the walls to check the 70-year-old structure. Then he took a halogen light up against the wall to look for Divet and imperfection. I’ve never seen a customer do this before. After the job was 100% complete [Member Name Removed] didn’t want to pay me so I took $1000 off the price of the sheet rock job just to get out of there. This guy right from the beginning had no intentions of paying us at the end. I’ve been in construction for over 40 years and I’ll probably do another 10 more years of my life. This is not how I run my business according to [Member Name Removed]. I told [Member Name Removed] if there’s something wrong with the walls hire another contractor and I will pay the difference, I guess other contractors went to the house and they couldn’t fix something they couldn’t see. I love my business and I love what I do it’s customers like this that make me want to retire soon."
During the course of the job they:
1. Ripped the drywall within the room just enough to properly assess the extent of the damage (saving us costs).
2. Reframed certain parts of the wall that needed new structure.
3. Installed our matching Anderson window.
4. Re-hung shingles on the outside of the house after completing the window installation.
5. Installed new molding and created a custom piece to "join" the two windows (old and new) and make them appear as a single unit.
6. Insulated, re-rocked, taped and spackled the wall.
7. Explored additional wall to guage potential damage. They did so with minimal damage to the drywall and fixed it prior to finishing the job. As a result of their exploration, we decided it was not necessary to replace structure in the wall.
Overall, our experience with Bernard was great. He and his crew were polite and efficient, clearly taking pride in a job well done. We would have scored them even higher overall had we not had initial miscommunication between the workers that were on the job. This was cleared up as soon as Bernard arrived, and we were both very happy with the overall result.
He was on the job every day, working, supplying the materials, making sure all our needs and his crews were met. The price of the job was accurate and discussed when we encountered unseen damage and Bernard quoted a price that he stuck to.
Bernard’s' professionalism, knowledge of what needed to be done and the craftsmanship was and quot;OVER THE TOPand quot;! He prides himself in customer satisfaction taking his time and does not leave the job until you are 100% satisfied.
I would definitely recommend Tool Time Home Improvements for your next project and any future ones! The job was kept clean as it took a few days, I was very impressed!!
