Charles Thomas Construction

For years my wife and I scratched and saved every penny we could in order to redo our house into the home we always wanted. In the beginning of 2020, we decided it was time. We got a few estimates and then found Charles, who in the beginning seemed to be the contractor you always wanted. Attentive, decently price, had the answers, and showed pictures of quality work. In March we broken ground, and again, in the beginning of the project it was going great. Framing and siding was great. Work was being done, Charles was on scene, and in touch every day. ****, we even had a few happy hours at the end of the workday. Then things began to fall apart. Charles for whatever reason, started to become overwhelmed. His attitude, more specifically with my wife, began to become nasty. The work not only slowed but became sloppy and filled with short cuts. Charles went from the contractor with all the answers, to the man with every excuse possible. The excuses piled up and the work came to a standstill. But Charles still wanted his money, even when projects were not completed. But like I said, we had a good relationship, so we paid him for the tile work, even though the kitchen was not tiled yet, and we paid when he asked for the molding payment, even though all the molding was not done. Unfortunately we trusted Charles, and his promise that it would get done with in the week. As our 3–4 month project enter its 6th month with no real energy from Charles to complete his work, he again started to ask for more money. I finally said no. No more money until things that were paid for are finished or fixed (and there were a lot). A reasonable request. This is when the real Charles came out. The arrogance and refusal to acknowledge that what was going on was his fault. Charles refused to come to complete my house, and in December sent a text message to my wife asking to be released from his contract. He has never returned He left my house a danger zone for three young kids. There were electric issues that if left alone would have caused a fire, plumbing issues that could have flooded my house, a crumbling foundation and at least 30,000 dollars worth of unfinished work or work that needed to be redone. Message me privately and I will gladly show pictures and more to the story. What I have realized, is the things my wife and I loved in beginning of our project were done by people other than Charles. A framing company framed our house. Siding was done by siding company. Charles only does molding when his uncle is working. His cousin paints (terribly). I can go on and on but will end with this truth; eventually you figure out that Charles is a bundle of nerves and cannot complete work without other people's confidence. So consumer beware, if you're looking for a big project do not look here for a contractor.

It went extremely well! Charles paid attention to every detail from start to finish. He totally went above and beyond in every aspect of redoing our bathroom. Love my new bathroom and would highly recommend Charles of Charles Thomas Construction for any home project!

Charles and his team were amazing! Charles was prompt, courteous, and honest! He came to our home to give us an estimate, was up front with anything extra that we wanted to do, and did our job quickly and efficiently. His prices are very fair and he made sure we were completely satisfied. His men were craftsmen, and made our kitchen shine! A full renovation of my ranch. New Electric throughout. New plumbing throughout. 1 New bathroom, New kitchen. New doors and windows inside and out. The ceiling in the house is my favorite, they are coffered! I would have never have thought to do that. Matched existing hardwood floors where needed. This list goes on. From a scale from 1 to 10 - 10 being the best Id rate Charles and his crew an 11. I highly recommend Charles.

My new kitchen is amazing. I had an idea of what I wanted, but after working with the designer, I completely changed my mind, and I am so glad I did. The new layout is exactly what I wanted and more. The work was done on time and on budget. All workers were extremely professional and the clean up at the end of each day made the renovation process much more livable! All details were considered and addressed, and Charles even came back to hand my light when it was delivered late and after the job was completed. I couldn't be happier and I highly recommend.

First start Charles was professional and responsive. Always return my calls and texts.

They showed up on time and started working in an organized manner as to what needed to be covered and what to start on first.They opened up the inside wall to expose the wiring that they had to reroute,drained the boiler so they could reroute the hot water baseboard which was blocking the opening of where I wanted to put the door.After cutting through the wall and installing the header and framing the door went in perfectly.

Charles is great. His crew Josh and Uncle Mike are great also. There clean, prompt, trustworthy. He's prompt and does anything for his clients. He answers his phone right away and gets back to you right away if he doesn't have the answer right then and there. That's a big deal for me. His pricing was great in my opinion. His work and quality is unmatched.

Everything went smooth as expected and on time.

The job went very well. The initial time frame was 4-6 weeks. In the end, the completion time was slightly past 6 weeks. The final outcome turned out very well and we have received many compliments from friends and family. Charles is a pleasure to work with. His designer provided us a 3D rendering of what the kitchen would look like. Regarding the cabinets, flooring and countertops, that was provided through him. This assisted with monetary savings and the transactions occurred relatively smoothly. He is a local contractor who will deliver an exceptional, finished product. I would highly recommend both him and his team.

Overall experience was great: Demo and framing went very quickly, our neighbors could not believe the speed at which it had been done. House was tarped well and withstood wind and rainstorms. Anytime we needed to speak with Charles during the process he was very quick to get back to us. If he needed to send someone to address an issue he did so. Do not ask Charles for design ideas he does want to be blamed for anything; he does whatever the plans tell him to do. So with that said make sure you have blueprints and go over every bit of your blueprints with your architect and you will be very satisfied.

Everyone who comes in is in awe and compliments the work that was done. Charles' attention to detail is flawless and he did not consider the project complete until we were happy. All steps were discussed with us and his staff were friendly and respectful. They tried to keep the rest of the house as clean as possible considering the amount of dust throughout the first floor. He kept in communication with us and let us know what was happening and when there was a problem, he explained why it was occurring and how he was addressing it. The major change to our project involved removing a supporting wall and replacing it with a large beam. Because the beam was so large, it sat below the level of the ceiling and would have run across the middle of the great room. Charles suggested hiding the beam with coffered ceilings which was an "outside of the box" solution that turned out beautifully. Because we did the ceilings like that in the great room, Charles insisted on matching the ceiling in the adjoining dining room but still designed it with a slightly unique design. We are so pleased and would recommend him for any future project.

Working with Charles Thomas Construction was a pleasant and stress free experience. Renovations can always become stressful, but Charles' professionalism and knowledge gave us confidence in the job he was doing, and the end result was exactly what we had envisioned and then some. Charles and his crew were punctual, organized, and willing to answer any questions we had. We will DEFINITELY being using Charles Thomas Construction in the near future for the other major home renovations we have planned!

Charles and his crew were the most professional and hard working crew I have ever seen. With numerous renovations done in the past, he trumped all of them. They were an absolute pleasure. We continue to receive compliments on the work and could not be happier.Truly the best , that simple, you will not be disappointed!

We were extremely pleased with the high quality of work with professional workers. Work was performed on time and within budget. Charles was visible, answered all our questions and we had trust in him to create a vision for our backyard. Materials used were top quality. Our yard was cleaned and safe at the end of each work day and all the "little things" were done without having to ask. Would definitely use Charles Thomas Construction for other work on our house.

It was a wonderful experience. Charlie had some great ideas on how to complete and finish the job , listened to my crazy ideas and changed the job after he already began based on me changing my mind on something to make it even more amazing. His guys were clean and friendly and put a lot of effort and time into making it perfect.

The entire addition went very well including all town inspections

My wife and I wanted to change the layout of the entire first floor of our home, and include a more modern open layout. Charlie helped come up with ideas that we both loved. The bearing wall needed to be removed, and a metal I-beam running the width of the house needed to be installed. This I-beam came down an inch and a half below the existing ceiling. Charlie created the MOST AMAZING coffered ceiling to help disguise this I-beam. When it came to painting, his team did an amazing job. Even the few old walls that were painted looked as if they were brand new walls. You don't see any seams in any of the walls. Cannot say enough good things about the work was done.

I have heard from friends and family that having work done to the home is always stressful, and some stories sounded really dreadful. In thinking back, yes it was stressful but because it went so well, I would definitely do it again with CharlesThomas. My husband became ill during the kitchen renovation and we needed time here and there to stop the work. Charles Cocchiola did everything he could to see that the job never interfered with our medical problems. Every idea we had was listened to and taken into account for the job. Not one little detail was not seen to. If we wanted to change anything it was done. We love our new kitchen, bathroom and deck.
