K & B TRANSMISSIONS

I called K&B transmissions on A Monday to explain the trouble I was having with my car. When I called I explained my situation to Jeff who seemed very knowledgable about my specific vehicle just based off the information I gave him. I decided to drop off my car the next morning. When I arrived I was noticed that the shop was very clean and organized and the staff was vey welcoming. I spoke to Jeff who assured me that they would be calling me with a diagnosis of the problem after a series of tests. To my surprise I was even given a ride home. That afternoon I was called by Jeff and he explained to me that the transmission needed a rebuild. He suspected that the torque converter was failing. At the time I was debating in wether or not to go through with the repair as the the car is. 2005 and it was only getting older. i expressed my reservations to Jeff and he fave me his recommendation. At no point did I feel pressured into doing the repair. Jeff was very honest and gave me his professional opinion on the matter. I decided to go through with the repair. I received my car that Friday and the car feels like new. I would highly recommend K&B transmissions for there true professionalism, which is hard to find these days.

You know when they say ?if it?s sounds too good to be true, then it probably isn?t??  Well that is not the case with K & B Transmissions!!! 
When my Honda Odyssey needed a new transmission (as they all do sooner or later ;-), I started searching for a good repair shop.
When I read all the rave reviews for K & B Transmissions, I was skeptical.  They all touted Bob and his shop as being the best.  Truthfully, the reviews don?t do him or the shop justice. He?s even better than that!!!
The first thing we did was call him.  We spoke to him about the problems we were having and he spent quite a bit of time answering questions and explaining his approach to us.  He even gave us a firm quote for the job.
Our next step was to bring the car in for a thorough inspection so Bob could decide if it was in our best interest to even consider installing a new transmission.  Thorough is an understatement.  He went over our car with a fine tooth comb.  The problems he reported were things that we didn?t have to fix if we didn?t want.  It was our choice and they were common sense repairs.  It  wasn?t like most shops where they try and upsell you. We love our car and by now had tremendous faith in Bob so we decided to do everything he suggested.   And get this?.for the majority of the additional repairs he recommended, Bob only charged for the parts (NO LABOR) because these parts were readily accessible when the transmission was removed.  Seriously?  Can you believe that?  Most other shops would simply add standard labor hours associated with each repair.
The car was repaired within 24 hours and now rides like a brand new car.
Oh, did I mention he gives a 2 year warranty on parts and labor!
If you have any doubts just call and speak with him.  Bob is the Wikipedia of cars!  He is knowledgeable, courteous and one of the hardest working people you?ll ever meet.   I think I can sum it up best by saying that it is very clear the quality of Bob?s
work is driven by the care he has for his customers. And we are very happy to be recipients of that care.  Thanks, Bob!!

Intermittently, the transmission in my 2006 Chrysler Town and Country minivan would act up and I knew something was amiss.  I contacted K&B after looking through Angie's List for local transmission repair shops.  Once I located K&B, I contacted them to discuss the intermittent issue and Bob spent a good 20 minutes with me discussing the symptoms and likely issues.  He was extremely knowledgeable and provided me with the confidence I needed to send my wife in with the car since I was out-of-state.  He even provided me with a rough quote over the phone so that I kind of knew what to expect in terms of cost range.  We dropped off the van and he called me the next day with the news that the trans was at end of life at 135k miles. Naturally, I approved the repair.  He stayed in constant contact with me so that I was informed of the work as it progressed and he was careful to ensure that only the right parts were used. The repair was done timely and we picked the van up in three days as expected.  Everything seems to be working well and I feel that I was treated professionally and respectfully and got a great price.  Especially nice is the nation-wide 3 yr warranty that covers the trans at associated repair shops anywhere, which adds another layer of confidence.  
Based on my experience with K&B I feel very comfortable recommending them!!

When I first brought the car to Bob, he informed me that whoever had installed the axle on the driver's side of my car did not do so properly, and that the axle was not inserted all the way into the transmission.  This was a potentially dangerous condition and could have resulted in Bob having to disassemble the transmission in order to remedy the problem of the gear teeth on the axle and the gear teeth in the transmission not meshing correctly.  Fortunately, there are real mechanics at K&B, and they were able to finesse everything back together without having to take the transmission apart.  Bob was patient and skillful when he hand-filed the gear on the axle to a perfect fit.  He installed a new factory seal on the transmission where the shaft goes in and that problem was fixed.  
The oil leak was originally diagnosed as an oil pan gasket leak, but since there was so much oil on the engine, it was difficult to see if that might be the problem.  Bob meticulously steam cleaned the engine and determined that the leak was actually from the oil pressure switch.  This made the price of the repair significantly less.
All in all, the repairs were expertly done, and there have not been any other problems with leaks from the engine or the transmission.  K&B is by far the best and most honest repair shop that I have found on Long Island.  Just be patient with them and let them do their job!

Bob was thorough and knowledgeable about the problem with my truck. He called in the evening to discuss details and the progress of the work performed. When my truck was returned to me It was like I got a new truck, the transmission he put in ran as smooth as silk . He even had it cleaned inside and out, I'm not kidding K&b really did all this and I'm so happy with everything! I definately will return with future repairs.

Returning customer, again satisfied customer. Great experience dealing with Bob the owner as well as the staff (Eileen and Barbara) they are all very knowledgeable and trustworthy. They are simply the best, judging by the many years of experience I have dealing with automotive repairs and maintenance.
Being a certified ASE Technician myself and an Auto mechanic and Auto mechanic supervisor for a large fleet of vehicles by profession (currently retired) gives me good understanding of the type of work they do. I found out about K & B two or three years ago through one of the mechanics I use to supervise who used to work for K &B and later was hired by my ex employer for his expertise. If you?re looking for a reliable trustworthy and customer focused auto repair shop to take your vehicle, give them a call, chances are you would not be disappointed.

I called Bob and he told me every transmission that my 91 ford e250 had made, He had a handle on what the problem may be and gave me a best and worst case scenario, He dropped me off at the train station and picked me up when I cam to retrieve the van. 
It turned out to be the best case situation and I drove away with my old van purring. He is an honorable man and I am so very happy that I checked Angie's list before I made the plunge. The staff was professional, the workspace was clean and it was an overall good experience. 

The bes experience I ever had with auto repair.  Bob was tremendous and even caleddl me at night to inform me of his progress.. The best compliment I can give is  " This man really" knows  his business"

Very professional and courteous. every step of the way they consulted with me, updating me on the possibilities of what was wrong with the car (best case, worst case and most likely case scenarios) and (and this was so nice) even washed my car before returning it to me. They even stood with me in my attempt to get my insurance company to pay for it (not successful, but the owner dug through the garbage for a broken axel piece just because it MIGHT have helped).

From start to finish the owner described what went wrong and how he was going to fix it.  And he did!

Excellent, shop, First time I used them was for my daughter?s car 2002 Kia Sporage. I thought that the car needed a transmission and I called them to have the vehicle towed to their shop for service based on a friends recomendation. They diagnosed the problem and discovered that the vehicle did not need a transmission after all. They found out that the car had a clogged exhaust catalytic converter insted. They called me and I was told that the transmission was fine and was informed that the vehicle needed a catalytic
converted. They asked me if I wanted to proceed with the repairs after they explained what was needed which I?m glad I did and the vehicle was done the next day and towed back to my house. The price I was quoted and I paid to have the vehicle repaired exceeded my expectations and I was pretty amazed at the fact that they dint even charge for towing the vehicle.

They are the best in the country. You get what you pay for. They are completely upfront with their prices.

We heard about this place from a friend who had used them. The mechanic was very nice and gave us options for a short term, cheaper repair or long term repair, which was more expensive but gave us a one year guarantee on the work. When we picked up the car, we were happy to find out he also did some additional work on the suspension at no additional charge. This improved the ride of the car quite a bit and the transmission seems to be running just fine so far (7 months later).
