Garrison Tree was recommended by a colleague who had several positive experiences with them over the years. We needed someone to prune several trees, cut down a tree and install a support cable. Though I do not believe they position themselves as a low cost provider, Garrison Tree's estimate for our work was about 20% less than that provided by another highly rated company. The reference plus the lower price is what got them the job.
Garrison Tree was professional over the phone and timely in performing the work - both the initial price estimate and the actual service. The service was performed in line with the initial cost estimate.
Though we were not home when the work was performed I took a look when we returned and noted that they appeared to have done everything they had agreed to. The yard was well cleaned up too - though I did have to get a rake and clean up a number of downed branches, twigs and leaves that were still spread about. It's possible that some of this had come down after the work was performed, and in any case I would have expected to do this sort of clean up after any work was performed.
The only issue we had was that when they cut down the tree it damaged a section of our fence. I noticed this when inspecting my yard after we returned home. I called Garrison Tree and they said they were aware of the issue and would make the necessary repairs. Within a week of the initial job someone did come out and repaired our fence at no additional charge. I am appreciative that they took this action and did not try to argue that damage was not their fault or had been there before, etc. The only mild improvement I could recommend would have been to reach out proactively to notify us of the damage and that they would make necessary repairs.
Overall we were pleased with the service and will contact Garrison Tree in the future for other tree related services.

We have worked with Josh since 2001. Over the years he has done everything for us from topping trees to landscaping and snow plowing. Josh is the best! In his line of work, it's very easy to have misunderstandings or miscommunications. We all have different pictures in our minds of finished results! But in our experience, he always takes the high road, even if it's at his own expense. In this particular instance we were not clear about our desire for the clean up of the topped trees and wound up with some unhappy neighbors. Josh came back and chipped everything at no charge to us. We are VERY HAPPY and believe our neighbors are too. We would highly recommend Garrison Tree for any landscaping or arborist job you may have.

Excellent service - took care to not damage lawn, cleaned up afterwards. Extremely professional staff who knew what they were doing ... cautious and careful. Highly recommend.

We moved into our house in January and by spring realized we had 6 dead trees that would have fallen during hurricane Sandy for sure!
Pete showed up on time, gave me a great estimate and was able to do the work that day! Really nice guy and crew.

They are a little more expensive than other companies, but they do quality work.

Garrison tree did an excellent job. They were on time when they came to estimate the job. Removed a very large tree and left no mess. The grade in the front yard was done as instructed. Estimated price was equal to the final price.
There were two minor issues which I only mention because of how Garrison Tree handled the issues. One of the trees did not get pruned (due partially to miscommunication on my part) and a portion of the grading in the front yard would have caused one of my neighbors an issue. I called Josh at Garrison Tree to explain these two items. He quickly explained that he would do what ever was needed to make the job right. His crew arrived the next day and corrected the two issues.
This is the main reason I would hire Garrison Tree again and too me, that is the type of service I am looking for when I hire a contractor. I can tell you from experience, that I normally do not get this reaction to identified issues.

They are good. The price was good for what they did. They have good equipment and know what they are doing.

I made an appointment and they came out the day and time scheduled. Luckily the tree service men were in the area so later in the day they came over and performed the services. Overall the service we great - professional and even did a good clean up job after the job was done. The representative was a smart and knowledgeable guy. My only draw back is it was just a little too pricey for me. I was hoping for a smaller amount - not by much but some.

Josh checked with me before starting to be sure he knew what I wanted done, and again when they had finished the work to see if I approved. I did and I told him so. He said if, when the leaves come out, I didn't like the way it looked, he would come back and fix the problem, but I'm pretty sure it will look good. He is very dependable, always shows up when he says he will or he lets you know, and what he charges for the work he does is very reasonable. A few years ago he cut down a series of pine trees in my back yard, and did a good job, so I always call him when I need tree work.

VERY GOOD. CAME IN WHEN WE NEEDED THE HELP. DID WHAT WE NEEDED HIM TO DO. WHEN WE REALIZED THE TREE WASN'T GOING TO MAKE IT BECAUSE OF THE DISEASE, HE IMMEDIATELY CAME BACK AND TOOK IT DOWN, SO IT WOULD NOT FALL AND HURT ANYONE.

I DON'T REALLY HAVE ANYTHING SPECIAL TO COMMENT ON. THE ONLY THING I DID NOT CARE FOR WAS THE CLEAN UP. THEY LEFT A LOT OF STUMPS AND LOOSE BRANCHES THAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO CLEAR UP. I GAVE THEM A C FOR PROFESSIONALISM BECAUSE OF THE WAY THEY WORKED IN THE YARD. IT WAS NOT THE CLEAN UP PROCESS AND THE REMOVAL THAT WE HAD ORIGINALLY AGREED TO.

I WOULD NEVER HIRE THEM AGAIN. I THINK THEY DID A LOUSY JOB IN TERMS OF CLEANLINESS AND COURTESY AND THINGS LIKE THAT. THEY'LL NEVER GET ANY WORK OUT OF ME AGAIN.

INITIALLY THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL, COURTEOUS, AND PROMPT. WORKING WITH THE MANAGER WAS A PLEASURE. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY DID NOT FINISH THE WORK AND THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY WAS RUDE AND NASTY. HE REFUSED TO SEND HIS MEN BACK TO CLEAN UP.

I THINK THAT THEY ARE VERY DEPENDABLE AND THEY ARE ALWAYS THERE RIGHT AFTER A SNOWSTORM. IF I NEED THEM TO COME BACK AND DROP MORE SALT WITH ONE PHONE CALL THEY ARE THERE WITHIN THE HOUR DEPENDING ON HOW BUSY THEY ARE.
