Service Call. Slop sink next to washer backed up and overflowed Wednesday night (heavy rains, sump pump running, couple loads of laundry).  Figured it was the sewer lateral, maybe roots and with the heavy rain and washer machine running the lateral couldn't handle the volume and just backed up. On Thursday removed the lateral cleanout cap and the realize it was a major blockage (tested with water from tub/toilet etc and water came right back out the cleanout).  Borrowed a 80 foot auger/snake from a friend and took a shot at dislodging the blockage. No luck Thursday night. Tried again on Friday and after about an hour figured I needed a professional. Called around Noon, spoke to Tammy (very pleasant), and was told David would be at my house between 1-3pm. Tammy said he was available and that he could come on short notice (wasn't charged extra for this - wasn't an emergency call). I kept trying with the auger and 10 mins before David showed up the blockage seem to have been cleared. David showed up at 1:30pm (great for calling just an hour and half earlier), I explained the situation, told him I think it might have been fixed, but wanted him to take a look and verify. David was extremely knowledgeable, very friendly, and answered every question I asked him. He ran the water for about ~12 mins to verify the block was cleared, took a look at the lateral with his flashlight, explained to me which cap to use to close up lateral (I bought a couple from Lowes b/c old one needed to be changed).  David even checked my sump pump to ensure it was working correctly.  This guy was a class act.  He went outside the house with me to view the water main, inspected a PVC pipe in the front yard behind some bushes to ensure it wasn't a cleanout access (it wasn't), and gave me information about Root Killer.  He gave me some heavy duty rubber gloves for cleanup, and even gave me a bag of candy with Rooter-Man logo.  I would definitely call this company again if I could not handle the job myself (and likely ask if they could send David). Well worth the $53 and peace of mind.

There was a sewer back up in the basement.  It got clugged and we noticed when 2 people were showering.  The water started to spill out on the pipe where the washer empties the water.  We called immediately Rooter and the fastest they could come was within one hour.  The service person was Gary who was very nice and profesional.  He explained the different options or ways to handle this problem and he proceded accordingly.  He really cleared everything that was blocking the sewer line.  When he was finish after an hour and a half, he went by the downstairs bathroom and noticed the dripping inside the toilet tank and check i out and offer to fix it.  Told us what part needed to be replaced and how much it was plus the labor.  We agreed on a price and he fix it .  Because  we are clients of the Angies List he discounted the $ 49 Service Call.  Everything is working well.
Gary was really patient and answered all our questions.  I consulted about another situation that needed to be fixed and Gary made the call to his office and set an appointment for Tim to come over who was the person who could  handle that particular problem related to the washer hoses and washer machine shut off.

$677

The two services staff, Tim being the senior/trainer who had trainee staff member with him, saw that I had already removed the garage ceiling/dry-wall to expose the almost exact location of the leak. The service men stayed for approximately 2+ hours to repair the 1/2 copper t-joint behind the upstairs toilette, and after writing up two separate work orders (1st one crossed out as they determined their troubleshooting was wrong), contacted their office and gave us a bill for exactly $677 for this job...!

Although we tried to point out to the service men this cost was outrageious, being way too much money for the labor and parts, our requests to reduce the costs were met with 'this is our standard rate' (no breakout on invoice other than a) problem description, b) work description, subtotal/tax, and total.

I would not recommend Rooter-Man, nor am I satisfied with Angie's List recommendation - I do not think we'll ever use either again and am sorry we spent money on our Angie's List subscription.

It went extremely well. I liked him a lot. I think they were really honest, forthright. Compared to other companies I’ve used in the past we felt very comfortable using them. We plan to use them again when the need comes up. Their strongest point is their recommendations. We had a clogged line and they recommended us to stop using certain detergents because they said that detergent does not break down. They explained that antibacterial soaps are no good for the kitchen sinks because it forms a cloud inside in the pipe line and it does not break down like it should. We should be using something like Dawn which breaks down much easier.

The gentleman that I deal with is Tim, and he is just excellent. I have had him on three projects, both in my house and my apartment house. The price was reasonable as it was an emergency call on Saturday,   They told me upfront about the cost and I am fully satisfied with the price. He was there within two hours from when I called Rooterman. Tim finish the job quickly and I was (as always) pleased with the outcome.  I made the original call for the kitchen sink as that was the emergency. I had tried to replace the bathroom faucet myself as I am fairly handy. The bathroom faucet  was unable to be removed by tools alone. I tried and failed (and Tim tried and failed). Tim suggested a solution for removal and I agreed.  Using a reciprocating saw, he was able to cut the old faucet off the vanity (and DID NOT leave a scratch).  New faucet in and I am very pleased with the result.

He was fast, knowledgeable, and efficient. Took the time to explain what he was going to do, and did it. Checked with me before proceeding on anything that was going to cost extra. Had everything he needed to perform the service on his truck. Also, took the time to explain how to use the pipe maintenance powder kits we purchased.

The person who showed up claimed to be a service plumber with 20 yrs experience. We had a clog in our drain line near the waste pipe exiting our house. It had overflowed into our kitchen with wastewater, prompting us to call. He inspected the drain pipe and told us that the only place to access it was the kitchen sink. He disassembled the sink drain to snake it and told me to run the washer to see if the pipe was clear. That only caused water to s*** from the drain pipe and soak under my bedkitchen sink. He then told me that he had reached the one hour mark and any further service would cost $90 per half hour. After already spending $300 it had become cost.prohibitive for him to.stay. He said the clog was partially clear but drains were still very slow. He then recommended that I disassemble the drain pipe at the juncture of the sewer line and clean it out with a mirror and a light. The next day my kitchen sink seemed to.drain well, but it overflowed at another part of the drain line and flooded my kitchen and part of my basement. I called a different plumber and he found a drain cleanout 15 feet closer to the wastepipe. He had the drain line clear within 20 minutes and only cost me $80. I called Rooterman and explained this, along with the fact that their plumber should have seen this cleanout if he had inspected the drain line as he stated. The ultimate answer I got was "Sorry, I will pass on the information to the boss." Meanwhile I now have to tear down sheetrock and

I called the Rooter Man office and asked about their service. A very friendly woman walked me through what the problem I had was and then asked when I would like the service scheduled. I told her now! She checked her schedule and told me she could have a plumber at my house in about 3 hours. Three hours later the Rooter Man plumber showed up right on time. The Rooter Man plumber Gary cleaned out a clogged drain at my home after a detailed estimate written on the spot. Gary went about his work in a quick efficient manner and after about two hours all was back to normal. Gary also cleaned up after himself and disinfected the basement floor all around his work area. The estimate proved out to be right on and the final cost less than expected. Rooter Man is highly recommended.
