I had called Kinetic Basement Solutions because one of my two sump pump pits began filling with water. The pits had no pumps and very little water in them for years but that all changed recently. The team assessed the situation and installed two pumps, one in each pit, along with exterior drainage basins and I no longer worry about the water. They performed the installation about a week after I told them I wanted to move forward and they were nothing but professional. The installation inside was done well and there was no cleanup I had to do when they left! Outside, I had one minor aesthetic concern that was addressed immediately the following day. More companies should be as responsive as Kinetic. Nicole and the office staff are a pleasure to deal with.

We have a Ranch house built in 1970. At that time, I installed two sump pumps to deal with water issues. Although the pumps and their replacements have worked over the years, there were several issues. First, the sump holes are far from being attractive. Second, the plumbing is a kludge and not up to code. And, there was no backup in case of power failure. I investigated several contractors and decided to go with Kinetic Basement Solutions. This is the best investment I have made in years. Greg and Jason are the co-owners. Greg gave an estimate to replace my two sumps and encapsulate my dirt floored crawlspace. The price was great so I signed a contract. Greg scheduled a start date. Although the start date was delayed, Greg kept me informed of updates. Once the job started he checked in frequently via phone to inform me of schedule changes and work progress. Jason also stopped by often to check progress. The staff worked hard every day and left the basement and garage clean. The crew consisted of a senior guy with two to three helpers. The finished products are outstanding. Each sump has room for two pumps. This is for future room for a backup pump. Each pump has a battery backup. The sumps drain into catch basins in my back yard. The encapsulated crawlspace is clean and bright. Greg is passionate about his product and company. The work was outstanding and the installation team was professional.

Greg came and provided us an estimate on a large job in our basement. He was the second estimate we received and price wise, close to the competitor.  We thought Greg was knowledgeable, not pushy, and provided us multiple options to tackle the large job as a whole or in sections in our basement. His team was prompt, professional and worked a long day.  When they left there was no evidence that they were there.  They were clean and not disruptive to the day.  We couldn't even tell where they had dug in the yard for the drainage.

We had a very, very musty, damp basement,  and were finding mold growing on everything we stored in it.  We had a large dehumidifier down there, but it was running constantly and not helping the smell or dampness. We were skeptical when Greg said the dehumidifier he would install would take care of the problem, but within a day of it running the smell and dampness was immediately gone.  Our basement now is at a constant safe level of humidity and pleasantly odor free.  The dehumidifier is quiet and efficient.

We will be hiring Kinetic basement in the future to continue our basement project.

Our experience with Kinetic overall was fabulous and we look forward to working with them in the future.  During the estimate process, Greg Bombard, company owner, personally drove from Clifton Park to Valatie on a weekday evening to accommodate our work schedule.  Greg called me the same day I requested an estimate.  Many other companies I called ended up calling me a week later.  When Greg arrived he did not rush through the inspection/estimate process, he truly took his time.  He listened to us explain the problem and provided us with a few different solutions/packages.  What I respected most about Greg is that he did not try to upsell us as many contractors do!  He provided us with some very elaborate packages that could have provided us with extra protection; however, was confident that some of his lesser packages would adequately do his job.  I also greatly appreciated the respect level he showed me and my wife--in no way did he talk down to us at any point in the process.  After the initial estimate, Greg and his co-owner (I believe his name was Jay) drove back down to Valatie to review the crawlspace again to make sure the quote was accurate and the proposed solution would correctly resolve the issue.  This thoroughness was much appreciated because we did not want to get involved in the project and then be charged more due to an unforeseen problem--this has happened to us before by other contractors.  Although Kinetic's estimate was slightly higher than other quotes, you pay for what you get.  Their system requires SIGNIFICANTLY more manpower and labor than other systems.  Compared to competitors, their system is installed deeper beneath the basement floor which keeps the ground water further away from your possessions (to me, this is logic!).  In addition, the overall vibe, attentiveness, and thoroughness of Greg during the estimate process made the decision a no brainer.
They broke the project down into a three day project; however, when I expressed that I would like the project done in two days, they were more than accommodating.  I couldn't believe it that they were able to finish the project in two days--you rarely see contractors finish ahead of schedule!  The first day two employees jackhammered the basement floor and removed all the old concrete.  They also leveled the dirt in the crawlspace.  They were very careful and sealed off the basement door to the rest of the house during the jackhammering to prevent dust from infiltrating the rest of the home.  When they carried out the old concrete, in buckets, BY HAND, they also laid a series of drop cloths to protect our floor.  The next day a full team of approximately 8 men arrived and completed the project around 6:20 p.m.  Both days, the employees arrived on time and they worked the WHOLE time.  They are so considerate--they even offered to clean my floor where they accidently stepped off the drop cloths.  The only time they stopped and took a break is when I asked them questions about the process, which they were always happy to explain what was going on.  If I could do one thing differently during the installation process I would have paid the extra money to have them run the discharge line further away from my house.  Right now a small puddle develops and because our house is on clay, the discharge area is incredibly soft and my tractor leaves tire marks.  I will probably extend the line myself in the spring.
After 3 months after the installation we could not be happier with the system or the company.  Within two weeks the musty smell was gone and we have not had any sign of water at all.  In the future we may install a battery backup sump and may finish the basement.  We will also use Kinetic for yearly inspections/cleanings.
You pay for what you get.  With Kinetic, you pay for: excellent service, the best product, and peace of mind.  We would highly recommend Kinetic to anyone living in the Capital District.

The sales aspect was smooth.  Installation went smoothly as well.   For the exorbitant fee they charge the window should have at least been more than bare minimum framing on the interior of the house.  I can understand not finishing it due to decorating concerns but this was an extremely rough version of installation.  The exterior looked great.  The interior did not even have insulation added and left gaping holes along side.  Fortunately I'm handy enough to be able to finish it off but like I said for the huge fee they charge a little insulation and finish work wouldn't kill them.

The price was less than the big name.
They showed up on time, with a full crew, and worked all day.
They finished ahead of schedule- 3 days instead of the expected 4.
The materials and methods are well engineered.
The workmanship was excellent.
My basement is now clean and dry!

I have been trying to get a basement contractor to waterproof my basement for several years and had problems with 3 other companies (inaccurate estimates, trying to sell products rather than fix problems, no shows for appointments or worse giving quotes which said installing a catchment system to let water run into perimeter drain rather than fix the leak was a good solution???).

From the day I contacted Greg (Aug.8th) until the work was competed (Aug. 28th) I found both Greg and Jason to be totally professional and responsive. They listened to the problems I had and came up with a price quote in 2 days This price quote was for a total solution (interior basement and exterior drainage).

Kinetic did provide a total solution to the problem, Since the repairs I have not had a drop of water. Great Job!!!!

Gary and crew are amazing! We had spent weeks working with another contractor who kept trying to and quot;assessand quot; what our issue was. In the meantime, black mold was growing on our walls and ceilings - which the previous contractor expressed no concern about, touched with his hands etc. (We didn't understand the implications until we started reading on line after we met with Gary). Gary came in on a Monday night - recognized that we had a serious health hazard going on, came up with a plan of action and was back the next night to install the dehumidifier.
Furthermore, we were scheduled to be going on vacation shortly and Gary was able to work the schedule and get a crew in to perform the work PRIOR to our vacation. Guess what? They showed up every single day on time, worked a full day (++) every day, and completed the work they said they would. They also communicated with me as the home owner every step of the way to insure that we were on the same page on job scope, handling issues encountered etc. They cleaned up the job site each and every night before going home (in fact, I told them they didn't have to because it was our basement and I didn't care ....but they did it anyway). They never made me feel as if I was bothering them when I would go down for my 'education' sessions about how things worked, or what they were doing.
I can't tell you what it felt like to find someone with old school values - each and every person on that team had a work ethic. They did what they said they were going to on time and oh by the way, to the dollar value I was quoted.
His partner will work with me in the fall to provide a quote on drywall and ceiling replacement and I fully expect a repeat of the same experience. I like this vendor so much I am going to use him for another one of the business entities (landscaping).

Kinetic did a great job with the system in 2011. I believe Joe has since moved on. They were quick (~three days). It was messy grueling mule work, they hauled concrete and gravel up a flight of stairs then outside in the middle of July. The drainage is outstanding, and the sump pumps have not had any issues. The battery back-up has not been needed yet, but through testing it I imagine it will work as advertised. The dehumidifier is far better quality than what you would buy at the depot, and has worked great keeping a 1000 sq ft basement below 40% humidity without running non-stop as my previous did. Hurrican Sandy came and went without a trace of water in the basement. Overall, the work was a bit pricey, but the quality of the system and peace of mind - in my opinion - has been worth every cent. The minor complaint I had was the lack of details during clean-up. Once the work was done they were out of their quickly, I still have a few muddy hand prints on my foundation wall :) One suggestion I would have for Kinetic is to provide a follow-up courtesy phone call a week or two after the work has been done. In my case there were a few loose ends (info and maintenance) that I didn't get adequately explained during the work itself. Overall, I was happy with their service and would use them again in a heartbeat.

Hurricane Irene was the final straw. After years of fighting a losing waterproofing war with my 82 year old basement, I threw in the towel, starting calling the pros. Did my research, reviewed every reliable source of info (thanks, Angie!), Checked out the highest rated companies. In my opinion, the Kinetic team was professional from start to finish. Focused on what I wanted done. Didn't oversell or under deliver. Provided a complete, easy to understand estimate, including technical details. One day 1, showed up on time, worked hard all day. Some contractors push hard to impress on Day 1, then start to slack Day 2 and thereafter. Not these guys. Came to work - yeah, work! - each day. Stayed at it all day. No long lunches, no constant cig breaks, no piles of Dunkin cups, no mess.
The Kinetic guys have a passion for detail that shows in the final product. Work took 5 full days. Exactly as described. Quality product and work. My basement is ready for the next 82 years, Thanks Kinetic!

Joe is very trustworthy and did a very good job for us. His foundation team was very professional and I was very happy with their work.

I requested some carpentry work to connect the new foundation with the existing walls and replace the floor joists. Kinetic subcontracted this job out to a carpenter. I was not happy with his work and he was very creepy and unprofessional. He smoked inside our house (we are not smokers) and creeped my wife out to the point that she came home and left immediately upon meeting him.

I would recommend Kinetic highly for their basement and masonry work. Joe and his team are excellent. I would not have them contract anything out though. Find another contractor on Angie's List.

I own a home that was built back in 1939. Suffice it to say, the basement was old-school. My friends and I used to joke around and call it the and quot;scary basement, and quot; complete with crumbling concrete floors and cobwebs. Hope that gives you a basic visual. Although I have luckily never had any flooding/standing-water problems, there was an overall consistently musty smell in the basement and the general climate in the space was damp - despite the $300 dehumidifier that I had running non-stop for 5 years (it was hooked up to a floor-drain.) Not knowing exactly what I was looking for (mold/mildew removal and air quality improvement are admittedly not my areas of expertise), I called around to at least 5 different places with the goals of: getting ideas from them as to how to improve the air quality of the space (I figured, they're the experts!); to get an estimate; and to learn their availability in their schedules in order to complete the work in a timely fashion. By FAR, Kinetic Basement Solutions stood out above the rest. The proprietor squeezed me in to his busy schedule, came right in and presented himself as both extremely knowledgable as to what was needed in order to improve the space in general as well as the overall air quality; and was very highly motivated to do the work (the man has an inordinate amount of energy and moves at the speed of light!). He was able to give me an immediate estimate with a more formalized and detailed estimate emailed to me by his secretary within 24 hours. After reviewing the detailed estimate, I did my research and went online to compare general prices - I learned that his prices were remarkably fair and reasonable.

Here's the bottom line: they came when they said they would; they hustled to get the work done quickly and efficiently; they called me multiple times and always kept me updated regarding their progress and schedule for remaining tasks; they were cautious; they were hardworking; they were very professional; their prices were on-point and reasonable; and the work they did 2 months ago has already proven to have significantly improved both the overall living space as well as the air quality of the basement. I could not have been happier with Kinetic Basement Solutions and I would HIGHLY recommend them to others. In fact, I already have.

This company did work for me prior to this and a lot of other contractors complemented me on the out side work they did. So I re-hired Kinetic Basement Solutions to do the major work I needed done. They seemed to know what they where doing and very professional. The workers that came over started early at 07:15 am and they did this M-F, they did not work on any weekends at all during this construction project. The first day they started to break up the concrete floor and had most of the concrete out. Under the floor my house sites on sand and they only poured a 4 inch footers under the block, this is why I had to have the footing reinforced with a curb type footing. They dug the footing out and started to dig around the chimney, the foreman/partner informed me that the chimney did not have any type of footing or support underneath. I informed him to contact the structural engineer to get his recommendation. He told me and the building inspector what transpired between the both of them (Structural Engineer and Foreman/Partner) on the phone. The building code inspector informed us to have a addendum on the new recommendation before proceeding. The contract went ahead without the engineer amended report and moved the chimney. So, to have this corrected it had to be removed which was a added expense that I was not expecting. Also, they had me and my wife sign some type of waver for them so, they would not be held responsible for the chimney moving or any damages that it may have occurred or they could not proceed with the project. I was very disappointed on how they where handling this project and not following the structural blue print that I had posted by the structural engineer, on how this project was suppose to be done. The foreman/partner was telling me that the structural report was not clear enough for him to follow. So, they went a head and finished the project the way they wanted and within the time frame of the contract. The overall job looks good and they did lower the floor which was the main reason why I had this work done. The appearance inside is not as pretty as the out side, so as fare as getting complements who knows. I will diffidently will have to do some type of basement finishing in the future.

I Found this company through the BBB, Yellow pages and Angies list. The crew came out on time started and had the job completed with in 5 days, all the work. All the workers where very knowledgable and very friendly. When I asked them questions they always responded in a positive way when they answered. The owner was very professional and made sure the contracted was done in according to description and ensured all the work was completed in accordance to the contracted. He stayed on site the entire time to ensure everything was done correctly. I had several other contractor out to my home to do estimates on other projects and they all asked me who done the work on the exterior and I told them Kinetic Basements Solutions. They informed me they did a great job and they where very impressed with the work done. They told me it is very attractive and professionally done. I would like to thank Kinetic Basement Solutions crew for a job well done. I give you a 5 Star rating on everything you done. Thank you!! Gary O.
