D & R CONTRACTING

After roof install, roof seemed okay, but it turned out it was superficial. Over time we began noticing water entering home along edge areas where step flashing was said to have been and assumed to have been, done. We expected sealing around roof vents to have been done as well, but after seeing water stains and cracks in sheetrock ceilings appear, we discovered no sealing efforts were adequately addressed or done there either. Called D&R roofer and discussed with them that water was found to be entering and damaging our home since their install. Said how we discovered, via other roofing people, that instead of doing professional install of step flashing in areas, all found to have been done was a shoddy and sporadic application of globs of caulk. D & R Roof guy claimed he came to home and 'looked' at our roof, while I was home, waiting his arrival. He never rang bell, I didn't see any vehicle arrive, nor did I hear anyone on our roof. He said "I went up and checked. I did everything right!" Since then, am having to get all areas that were not installed correctly redone and get the areas damaged by water penetrating, where it should not have been, repaired. Do not assume that work will be done correctly if you hire this company.

He was excellent and he did an excellent job. He had about what four people up there with him.

Rich invited us to his home to see his work, we reviewed plans many times and he was easy to work with.  We had extensive requests and all of our specifications were met.  Our neighbors love our house.  Cost was right down the middle and reasonable for the amount of time spent.  Thank you Rich!!

Came as scheduled and left on time with a clean site. Good work, would recommend.

His 3 man team was especially efficient and was careful to not make a mess in the yard. In fact, very little cleanup was needed since they were so careful. They were polite and did exactly what they promised. We are very satisfied.

They had previously done our roof and we were so happy that we asked Rich to do an estimate on our deck. He did and we signed him right up, the deck was done in 2 days and it was everything we dreamed it could be, everything but the foundation was replaced and it's looks fabulous.

The crew did the roof to our house in one day, then came back the next day and did the garage. They did a wonderful job and my wife and I were very happy with the finished product. I would recommend them very highly.

I wasn't happy with them. They fixed the leak but it didn't get fixed and just looked bad. They were going to come back to fix it but they never came back. I just didn't follow up with it. He did call me right back initially.

Initial contact was made via telephone the week of 6/6/11 and I spoke with the owner of the company. He stated that he would take a look at the roof on 6/10/11 and there would be no cost for an estimate. On 6/16/11, the owner had not contacted with an estimate. Therefore, I called and left a message inquiring if he had taken a look at the roof or was not interested in the job. As of 6/21/11, the owner has not contacted me. Apparently Dand R is doing fine in today's difficult economy and can turn down opportunities for work.

I was looking for some advice from the companies I requested estimates from on how to do the replacement since my roof had snow slides, no eve vents on house, 'top hat' vents in roof and no ridge vent, nearly flat porch, etc. D&R will do what is requested but I found other companies to be much more consultative on recommendations. After evaluating competitive quotes, I choose D&R based on a few minor differences, who I felt I wanted to work with and a much lower price, only to find that the initial D&R estimate was wrong which then made it roughly equivalent with the other quotes (more than one, about the same as another). Then after the job began, we discovered that there were 2 prior roofs that had to be removed and hauled instead of the one which all 3 estimates contained, and we had to come to an agreement on additional costs, although I was in pretty much a take it or leave it situation since the job had begun. On the positive side, the job was done when promised, efficiently ( 2 days) and with great care taken on protecting landscaping and removing all debris. It looks good and appears to be a well done job. I'll know after this winter if I made the right decisions on the snow slides/roof venting/water barrier.

I was very pleased. They were on time and cleaned up well. I would recommend them to other members.

I think this company is awesome. They have a great reputation in this area and they seem to live up to it. They deserve only the best of grades for their professional demeanor and they're rather good prices as well.

MY NEIGHBOR USED THEM SO I USED THEM. THOUGHT THEY WERE A LITTLE EXPENSIVE BUT THEY DID A GOOD JOB AND THEY CLEANED UP. THEY WERE EXPENSIVE COMPARED TO OTHER PEOPLE WHO USED OTHER COMPANIES.
