terrible, terrible job. I just can't defend it, although I feel sorry for them about being trapped in a bad voucher agreement.
I took photos after they left so that I wouldn't begin to disbelieve my own perception of how bad it was. The thing is, yes, the amount they received is a pittance--but I'm not the one who signed them up with Groupon, and it was, after all $90 out
of MY pocket (of which Groupon kept half).
My notes after touring the house post-cleaning: SO bad. Didn’t break anything but that’s about the only positive. White steamclean “guck” left streaked everywhere it was used (see photos). Most of of the "cleaning" was regular vacuuming, and even that was done subpar. Husband wielded vac and kept hitting walls, furniture, doorframes. Hard. And even then, floors that were vacuumed STILL had crumbs left on them.
The steamcleaning may be hygienic, but I didn't see anything positive about the results. Instead, the steam cleaner deposited large blasts of white, slimy sludge in several places throughout the house (which were then left there instead of wiped up--why?) There was white sludge on my new bamboo dish rack, all over the kitchen sink, places on the counter, and on my black teapot handle ON the stove (? Who steam cleans the outside of a teapot?).
Neither the sofa or couch in the living room were touched (and they are COVERED in crumbs and cat hair). Crumbs & hair remain everywhere on floors, shelves. The master bedroom was not dusted at all--Vera referred vaguely to the difficulty of dusting "all
of that stuff." We have a LOT of bookshelves. They have a LOT of books and other objects on them. But that is part of a cleaner's life. And in fairness to us, our books are neatly shelved and stacked, and we're not picky. Just wipe the outside & top of the stack and then dust the shelving in front of the stack, moving and also dusting any knickknacks there, and I'm happy. I can't see that this is unreasonable--but it sure wasn't done. Again, Vera pointed out the job she did on the beside tables, as if this should be enough (also not well done, BTW. An old friend of a coffee stain and all the cat hair on the lamps? Still there).
They lifted & vacuumed throw rugs in both bedrooms, but didn’t lift, shake & vac under rug pads, so the undersides were a mess
again immediately. They did not move my daughter's beanbag chair, and vacuumed neither the beanbag or the floor under it. Her rug (under, over & pad) plus beanbag and floor: a 40-minute job for me last night.
Vera and her partner did not wipe/polish/dust ANY of the furniture properly, and most pieces they didn't touch. For example, the dining room table and chairs (and their crumbs and streaks) were completely undisturbed. This was a 30 minute job
for myself and my 8 year old after they left--first wiping with a damp cloth, allowing to airdry, then polishing it all).
In the kitchen, they did not remove MOST of the things from the countertops, so not one countertop was cleaned at the rear. No
appliances (microwave, toaster oven, coffeepot) were moved and cleaned under or behind. They did not touch the front of the fridge, or ANY windowsills or ledges (including our large bay window full of plants). Same with the kitchen floor—the entire east end of the room which contained the cat food and water area was left untouched. Herb leaves on windowsills and floors, and cat food crumbs all over the floor, remained undisturbed. There were crumbs under & beside the fridge (not leftovers--ALL the original crumbs. I may not have had time to clean them recently, but I definitely got to know them). IF the cabinet fronts were done as promised, then all the steaks and drips I had to clean off afterwards were steamclean guck. I spent nearly 2 hours completely recleaning the kitchen (sans a full floor job) after she left.
Same problems in the bath. Hair & guck all over tub, outside of toilet not cleaned, crumbs remaining on all floors, every corner ignored but the bath trash nook, which Vera pointed out to me as having been very dirty (yes, it was). However, the back wall and the base of toilet were also very dirty, and she completely ignored those. She also pointed out her bathroom tile wall polish job--and it was nice as far as it went. However, it ended where the belongings began, so the clean space was only about halfway down the wall. Plus a blash of steamclean sludge scattered all around the soap holder in a 7-inch radius, front 7 center, and she just left it there. The shower was scarier after she did it than before. Before, it was dirty AND covered in hair & soap scales. After, it was still all of that, but also newly coated in dangerously slippery steamclean ooze. Shower doors were halfheartedly wiped. This was another 45 minute redo job for me--to rinse & scrub all the g*** off, as well as cleaning up all the hair myself. Another 20 minutes doing a complete clean of the bath counter and objects on it. I have not gotten to the toilet and floor again yet, but those will be another 20.
As a wrap, I found Vera to be polite but not effusively friendly. Some reviewers online have complained that she seems brusque or unfriendly. I think that comes from cultural perceptions of manners (they are both clearly from a Slavic country, and he is much less fluent in English than she). Our conversations were pleasant and her manner mostly professional (except for pointing out clean areas in attempts to divert attention from dirty ones, which I did not think professional at all). But the work was absolutely unprofessional. Their earlier reviews make me think this team has done excellent work in the past but have really bitten off more than they can chew with this Groupon deal. But while understanding that, and even sympathizing--I can't afford to pay something for nothing, any more than they can afford to do something for nothing. It's a tough vendor-client situation on both sides. I hope they are able to pull their work back up to their past standards when their 300 Groupon deals are sold and completed. But I would personally never hire them again.

I had to step outside to take phone calls and was called in 1.5 hours from when they started. She said they were done and bolted out the door. When I turned on the lights and inspected just the kitchen with dirt marks still on the floor and STANDING water from the steam cleaner on the wood floors I ran out to the drive way to catch them. They were gone. I decided they had their money already ( and that's why they left quickly) and I certainly was not going to call them back EVER. It amazes me they could ever expect return business from this demonstration of poor workmanship. I wish I had the experience of the others listed on this site. Apparently they are not consistent.
