Auto Service
I have used this mechanics service a few times in the past because of their proximity, however I was never blown away by their service. The prices were a little high; $19 to mount a tire, and they seemed to take their time in making repairs (not extreme though). This most recent experience though was the last time I will use them. My truck was running rough (missing), when I brought it in for repair. I explain to Bob, (the owner) how it was running, and that the problem might be a burned out wire,( as it had been 9 times before, apparently Ford received a bad batch of these in 2001 and didn't want to replace them all because they are $100 apiece). He assured me that that was probably the problem and 24 hours and $275.00 dollars later he called me to say it was done. One day after I picked it up the check engine light came on and it began running rough again. When I brought it back to shop, it took him another 24 hours to inform me that my engine was essentially shot, I had a dead cylinder (65 psi) and there was a problem with the crankshaft (they didn't know what was wrong with it, but were sure that something was), and that I needed the head replaced by someone else (approx $2500). I then brought the truck to the Village Drop Shop in Walker Valley NY, and was told that the problem was the BOSCH spark plug that the previous place had installed; it was throwing out too weak of a spark. They replaced all the plugs and wire boots with Motorcraft parts, and the truck ran fine after that. They also told me that the Crankshaft problem was that the spark plug problem was throwing off the crankshaft sensor, they cleared that code and the check engine light went off. When I informed the owner of Country Service Center of what the Village Drop Shop told me, he stated that he didn't think they were right, and if they were, he didn't think his mechanic put that spark plug in anyway.
